I added the Navigation system in part due to the increased HD capacity. Does anyone know how many albums/songs can be fit on the 9.3 GB version?

Also, is it possible to load MP3s or to download songs from an iPod into the system, or are you restricted to actual CDs? How long does it take to download a CD?

Is the MusicBox pretty intuitive, where it's organized logically and easy to find music? Can you set up a playlist from stored music?

I can't answer all your questions, but I know I love mine.

It takes about 4 - 5 minutes to download a CD. I can't get mine to download from a burned CD. I don't really know why, others here can but I can't. It gets about 1/2 way through the first song and will stop.

I just keep mine on "All Playlist Random", then if it comes apon a CD that I want to hear, I just change it to play that CD till I get tired of it and put it back on APR.

Salesman told me about 180 CDs, but you know how they lie. j/k

Mine will read and download burned CDs if they're burned as digital audio and NOT mp3, wma, etc. As for the capacity, when I did a memory check it appeared to be about 10% full and I have 16 CDs stored in it so far. So I would say 150-200 CDs is a good estimate of music box capacity depending on the average length of the discs.

Some of my CDs are compilations I burned so they are near the full 80 minute capacity of the CD. With regular length albums (45-60 mins) I think it's very reasonable to expect nearly 200 to fit.

Also, I use the CF card reader for MP3 music. The car will read up to 500 files on a flash card, so you can have an additional 35-40 albums worth of music on each card, and MP3 won't be a problem.

It takes about 8 minutes to rip an audio CD. I don't know if MP3 CDs will be ripped or can be played. If you create an audio CD using iTunes, it will read the track information.

I sort by artist when listening to music. When I hold the skip button it will jump to the next artist alphabetically. You can also sort by album, among other options.

You cannot upload mp3 cds to the HDD. They have to be wav files. I had over 2000 songs on my Music Box in my 08 G37 (before I got and iPod Touch and stopped bothering)...

Proving once again that when all else fails, you can always read the manual.

I don't have an owner's manual yet, because I don't pick the car up until Monday. That's why I was asking.

The way I did it was have a CD burning while I listened to something else (you cant advance the track on the CD while it's ripping).

The music box is pretty cool. You can organize it by artist, or play your favorites all with a quick selection from the menu. The only dumb thing is you cant search while the car is moving, but you can advance tracks...which seems to be MORE unsafe but what do I know...

4 minutes? 8 minutes? to record a CD into the Music Box?

since when? I have an 09 G37x sedan and the Music Box has to burn a CD in real time. it takes as long as the CD's music is.

If I'm missing something here, please let me know!

yup, you're either missing something or something is wrong with your system. My 09 sedan rips and entire CD within 10 minutes while I'm listing to music normally or something else. I don't recall if there is a setting for controlling it or not, but I know I didn't have to set it up that. Sorta surprised me when the disc ripped quicker than I was listening to it.

Watch for the little REC light. It will change colors when the download is complete. It either goes back to red or back to white, I would have to go download one to check. You will see what I mean.

Mine will rip a full 80 minute CD in about 14 minutes. For a more typical album of 60 or fewer minutes, it's usually done in about 10 minutes or less.
