The Home Theatre thread had me thinking/wondering what all you NICO people listen to when you're not in your cars, and knowing how particular some of us are in regard to car audio, I'd expect quite a few of us have a nice home setup. So post what you have, whether it be a all-in-one, receiver, pre-amp, processor, amplifier, et cetra . . .

My Bedroom in CT:Sony STR-DE415 Receiver (only Dolby Pro Logic, but the power is surprisingly clean for a Sony, though it helps it was produced in 1997 or so, just as they started to sort of go down hill . . . 100 watts per channel in stereo mode at low THD levels)Sony SLV-675HF Hi-Fi VHS VCR (got it before DVD came out officially, still works well)Sony SL-2700B Hi-Fi Beta VCR (I still think Beta is better than VHS, and it doesn't show DVD->Tape copyright artifacts nearly as well as VHS does ;-) 21 years old now too, and still working great)Sony DVP-S330 DVD Player (one of their earlier models, was the cheapest one Sony had at the time, I think, and was still like $300, works well, aside from not playing CD-R's)Front Speakers: JBL Jubal L65's from 1975 or so . . . they were my dad's, and now a decade after he upgraded his speakers, I took them out of their storage spot . . . they sound amazing still)Center Channel: Some cheapy "Realistic" (Radio Shack brand before Optimus) speaker, works alright, should get something better though)Rear Speakers: Yamaha NS-A635A Bookshelf Speakers (were my fronts before the JBL's)Remote: Sony RM-AV3000 (controls everything, my lights included)

My dad still can easily beat my setup though, a nice pair of Klipsch towers, from 1990 or so, a Sunfire Dolby Digital pre-amp/processor, and 2 "old school" Carver solid-state amps, one of which puts out 254 watts per channel (2 channels) at 8 ohms; don't know the THD, but *THAT* sounds amazing. :-)

So post up, let's hear what you hear . . .

Its a good set up for movie watching.....would need towers to be really good at music, but it's definately decent.

Yeah I definately can't complain......it does everything I want while I'm still in college.

Wish the TV was bigger, but the 30" takes up enough room and weighs enough, I couldn't imagine having to move a bigger TV.

Let's see...

Right now I have a Harman Kardon HK3300 stereo receiver, and an HK 7735 CD player, along with two JBL LX300 speakers. This gear is almost 15 years old, as I recall.

I've got a 32" Toshiba TV, a relatively new Toshiba progressive scan DVD player too.

I just bought an Onkyo TXSR502 surround sound receiver, so I'm going to ditch the HK receiver and CD player, and most likely replace the JBL speakers with either Athena or Paradigm stuff.

In the longer term, I'm thinking of adding something like the D-Link Medialounge wireless media player to stream MP3s to my system, as well as overhauling one of my PCs to be a Tivo-like PVR device.

I really like my Paradigm speakers. I wouldn't mind getting some Paradigm towers to replace my Titans in the future.

Hmm... just rockin the Creative 5.1 surround PC speakers (w/sub) out of my computer... iTunes or PowerDVD reading from the CD or DVD drives... a 27in (or something like that) TV nearby with my PS2 for games/movies, but no sound system on it, sadly... then again, I shake the house enough as is with the PC and the 75w Line6 Spider II guitar amp...

One of these days when I'm on my own I'll take care of my viewing/listening pleasure... we've got a basic setup at here at home in the basement. 55in Mitsubishi with some relatively small Sony speakers in the corners...

You guys are way over my head with this stuff...

Quite delicious, especially for a $100 system (I think that's what I paid, new from Creative). Good thump but smooth in the mids and highs too. Positional audio is flawless. The smaller desktop speakers buzz on certain frequencies though...

Everything goes through my PC and a 1974 Pioneer amp, and Grado SR40s. Though I recently got a nice Yamaha sub for free on Freecycle (and its quite amazing) -- just need some small loudspeakers to go with it. Bought a Chaintech 710 sound card with some special high-quality output doodad mode thingy.

Either my dad has this pioneer reciever or the model just before they made this one in his bedroom. Along with that is a mid sized sub on the left and a pretty big one on the right that can blow a girl's dress over her head. On top of the TV are 4 mini BOSE speakers.

Downstairs: We have 2 decent towers but new everything(HDTV, reciever, speakers, etc) are gonna be bought after the carpet gets put down.

Computer: 2 harman/karman speakers and a sub. Keeps a lotta noise for what it is.

My room: 5 disc stereo with a bit of a kick. No TV stuff though. Buuuuttt thats gonna change.

The Pioneer A/V Receiver and JBL speaker pics are clickable to link to the vendor's page for each product, but that's just me.
