Music Box---What Gives?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I am baffled that when music box is recording my CD's, that album/song data is not found (on most, but not all) and I have to manually enter the information. This is getting old very fast. It finds the data on old CD's but not newer ones. The info is embedded on the CD! Is there a setting I'm missing? Does something need to be updated? The car is only 6 weeks old. Any insight to this is most appreciated.

I believe there is a firmware update for it that someone has mentioned earlier on the Infiniti website, it also has instruction. Not entirely sure if it fixes the issue, and if it even effects the 2010 models.

Thanks for the links but they are not active. The 2010 EX doesn't have CF capacity. What I don't understand is why Gracenote can't read the embedded information on the CD? Is this a flaw with the audio/music box system? Even our 2010 Honda Insight reads the embedded CD data.....

P.S.----I did go to the Infiniti link to get missing music box titles and printed it out. I'll need to find a thumbdrive and try it. The titles are on my ITouch 3g. Any idea if they can be transferred from my that device?

I don't think that's true. See Gracenote's FAQ http://www.gracenote.com/company_info/FAQ/FAQs/#2b

"On most commercial music compact discs, there is no disc title, artist, track title, credits, or other information"

The way it works I think is based on just the length of the tracks. It looks in its database for a CD that has those exact track lengths. So for newer CDs, you need to have a newer database. In a car though, I don't think they have a way for customers to update the database on the car's hard drive.

Stupid question but how do you know if you have a music box in the EX35?

This process seem WAY too cumbersome. Is there no way to update the software to spare us the hassle of downloading/transfering for every new disk? Seems the problem should be attacked from that direction.
