Can someone help me I got my first g37 lease with prem and navi pack I was told that I have 9gb of memory to store cd into musicbox but Iam not able to find the record option I check when the cd is playing And I press menu only 3 options are available and none of them has a record option I used the same cd on a g37 without navi it works just fine could someone tell me if I have the musicbox or not

I just got my new G37S with Nav a week ago.
I've used my I pod and I've used my 2Gig USB thumb drive and both work great thru the USB port..
From what I read in the owners manual and on other forums, you can only record to the 9 gig music box from CD's.
A bit of a bummer but it is a lot easier to just put music on an I Pod or thumb drive than dealing with CD's.

This is a feature that I hated on my G...it took forever to load the HD. The crappy thing was that it didn't have to be like that! But, once it was done, the interface was great.

On my new car, it will allow you to rip from USB...so I just plug in an 8G flash and copy it over. (also has 20G of space). The Infiniti should have been that way imo.

If you have navigation, it has it. You will need to set the music box to record cd's when inserted by default. I am surprised it was not already set this way. Hit your aux button until music box comes up, go into the menus and change the setting for recording so it does this when you insert your cd's. Interestingly I was messing with mine this weekend and figured out how to get the music title info for cd's that it doesn't automatically find through gracenote... Once they are ripped you go into music box menu, choose edit music information, and then transfer missing titles to USB. it will then pull up your list of recorded titles and you select ones with missing info to transfer. Once you confirm the operation it loads the info onto your usb drive which of course must already be inserted.

Then turn off the car and take your usb drive out and insert it into your computer, navigate to http://www.infinitiusa.com/music-update/usb.html and download the search software, select your usb drive location and the info file that was created and search for your titles. Once it is found, updated and saved your can remove your usb, plug it back into the car and update the music box info from it using the update gracenote from usb device function. This part takes a little longer.

There are certain cd's you will not be able to record, like copied cd's. If it is not an original bought cd you may not be able to record it onto your music box. For those I would recommend using your usb drive to play mp3's from. The problem for me with that is, I like listening to long dj mixed cd's, and playing them from usb tends to insert an annoying space between tracks. The music box does not do this when you load those cd's onto it.

when i press the aux option only cd bluetooth and usb come up and when i play a cd there is only 3 menu options play method, tracks, and something have to do random play
in the system menu there is noting that has the words music box or anything that relates to music box lol its like the system doesnt have it. is there a way i can post pics of the menu options so it would be easier for you guys to see them

Did you get a 2013? I just looked and it appears that the 13's no longer have music box. Am I wrong about this? Have you asked your dealership about it? When you took delivery did one of the dealership people help you become familiar with the tech features of the car? That would be the person to ask. It seems strange to me that they would do away with this feature.

i have a 2012 model i did take it to the dealers and they told me lots of crap they them selfs didnt know they tried to use real cd and other types they just didnt find it so they told me that i need to find better cd what ever that means well i think i just dont have that option or my g37 has a problem

My 2012 with nav has it, I'm pretty sure the ones with nav from '12 all still do, but they may have discontinued including that feature at some point mid year. You may not be able to select music box from the menu until at least one cd has been recorded to the system. I suggest playing different cd's and see if one of them doesn't eventually start recording when you insert it. Any commercially produced cd should work.

I just found out the stopped putting Music Boxs in Gs made after 6/12 (literally mid year) I think...I spent some time Saturday looking at one that didn't actually come with one...I asked the salesman and he thought it did. Seems like the dropped this option (can't say I'll miss it) without really telling anyone.

wow....I didn't expect they would drop Music Box. Looking back at specs the last year they show Music Box is the 2011 model year. 2012 nor 2013 show it. Dealers are still showing 2013's as having Music Box in a lot of sales ads....

I never saw any form of an announcement including within their "charting the changes" reports.

It's really mesed up when I got my lease it was one of the things that was told to me but the problem with that me and my friend got it in the same month but he has no navi his car has music box

My production date is actually 6/11 and it is a 12 model and I've got it...and never plan on using it.

It only works with cds which I own very few of. The time to write to the HD was fairly slow and the recall isn't on par with flash memory or even BT streaming. I liked the CF slot in the 08 model...unfortunately I was alone in that. At least using the USB you can tinker with using a mouse and keyboard to customize it more so than you were able to before.

Who here doesn't have their cds on their ipod?
If you are like me and don't have an ipod you can use a flash stick to load much more music on there in less time.

I'm not defending their action in switching features without telling people....that is something I would expect from Apple not Infiniti.

Ur complete right well thanks guys for helping me on the other hand the car is amazing I only thing I think needs work is the suspension it's like a rocking chair when I hit bumps or continuance road imperfections lmao I'm like moving side to side most of the time in the car this is my first G series the last Infiniti I had was te 06 m35x which I love and Iam getting another one after the lease is over the M is an amazing car

Update
I had to use a parking garage in Manhattan the other day so I disconnected and locked up my IPOD in the glove box.

Lo and behold when I hit the AUX button my music and playlist still show up and play even though the IPOD is still disconnected. So do I still have a music box even though it doesn't show up in the menu's?

I was just taking a look at this thread. Yes, you can delete stuff. You'll have to drill down through the options in Music Box to do it. I'm not at the car now so can't help with that at the moment. Just reply here if you haven't gotten it done yet and I'll post it later.
