I seem to be having trouble with the music box system in my 2008 M35x. I have ripped a few cd's to the hard drive and they all play fine. The problem is that if I select 'Search by artist' or 'Search by album' it never brings up any of the artists or albums, all it does is go back to the album that is currently playing.

Is there anything that I can do to resolve this?

Thanks

are you recording cd you copied your self?
most of the cd i put into music box sort by album and artist ,except if they are cd i burnt myself ,and do sort properly.
go into system and see if the cd you entered are on the list of albums and artists if not then the music box does not recognize the tune.
you can label any thing you have recorded manually then they should be on list not unknown arist etc.
hope this help and of course rtfm.

Mazz, these are regular commercial cd's that I ripped to the hard drive. Nothing is labeled unknown and they do appear with both the artist and album name in the system.

Mazz, if you select 'Search by album' or 'Search by artist' what happens in your car?

then the list appear and i can select them
make sure you are in park when you are trying to do more than just go random or play
certain feautures available only when stopped i think just like nav

Mazz, I found my problem. The choices while driving are not 'Search for artist' or 'Search for album' like I thought, they are actually to find other albums by the same artist that is currently playing. Once I realized this my problem was resolved. Once the car is stopped I can doa full search for any artist or album that is saved.

Thanks for your help

Glad to hear!! This is now one of new functions I am enjoying thanks to my navhack!! I usually just select the album I wanted to listen to and go from there.... This is so much more convenient, directly to the track or artist you want...

You learn something new every day!! :dblthumb:
