Music Box System in 2008 M35x

I have the Technology option which includes the 9.3 GB hard drive "Music Box". I have been reading the owner's manual about this system, and have recorded one track from a CD put into the drive.

Here is my question: It appears that the only way to load music onto the Music Box is to "record" it from the CD drive at 1X speed. This seems incredibly restrictive. Is this correct, or have I missed a feature that allows loading files from another source, or can "rip" tracks from a CD.

You should have a compact flash card port as well that you can use to load songs to the hard drive. I've found this a better option than trying to copy from a CD in the drive.

OK, good, then I can upload the flash drive, you say. I'll check that out. Thanks.

Later: I have searched the .pdf version of the Owner's Manual for the procedure to upload music from the compact flash drive to the hard disk drive, without success. Can anybody explain how to do this?

Ive checked the manual and I dont beleive that this is possible at least with the sw version on my 08 m35x purch 03-08. I guess I'll search on the forum to see if theres an update that we can do to it. If anyones got any good intel pls post.

ps, it records faster than 1x. if you go into your music box you can start playing your "saved" music while its ripping and skip tracks and everthing.

Yes, it does rip music in the background, at about 3.5X, while it is playing the CD in the foreground at 1X. The manual does not say that. I mis-understood that the "record" function was at 1X. Infiniti should hire better tech writers.
