Music Box Question.

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi Guys, new to the forum...I just took delivery of my EX (Black on Black with tech package )

I have a question. Is there a way to only record/copy a specific song from a CD to the music box? or do you have to record the whole cd??

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, M

i don't know the answer but that is a good question and would be a nice feature if it could. Basically be able to skip to the track and while it is playing select "rip currently playing track"

As far has i know you have to record all the cd and delete the songs you don't want to keep.

But if someone has a bette idea let us know to record just selected tracks.

According to the manual p4-58, "The system starts recording the track being played and 'REC CD' appears on the screen."

In the right-most screenshot, just above the "STOP" and "Text" buttons, the string "REC CD" with current-track / total-tracks will be displayed. The ripping occurs faster than the realtime track play speed, so keep your eye on that display and you can stop the "recording" function without waiting for the whole song to play.

I haven't actually tried this, but sounds like it should work.

OK - just tried this out and have a couple of items to report:

1. Correction ... recording does NOT start at the current track (as suggested by the manual).

While I was listening to the 2nd track, I pressed "REC" and it reverted to the first track to start recording.

2. I reached my destination while it was still recording, so I pressed "STOP", turned off the radio and the car. When I got back in for the return trip, I turned on the radio and pressed "REC" again, and recording resumed as if nothing happened. The entire CD rip completed successfully.

3. While ripping, you need not listen to the CD. Simply switch to radio or any other music source. If you look carefully, you will see "REC CD" shown somewhere on your display, though exactly where depends upon the display mode.
