so i was reading reviews on the new maxima coming out and made me drool over the navigation system/setup on it. It looks dangerously close to that in the infiniti cars, (it probably is the same thing). as some of you may know i'm not in the nissan family...yet, but am very close to becoming a part of it. maybe you can settle some doubts in my mind.

do any of you guys know if the nav system has the music box that lets you download your music into the hard drive? i currently have this feature on my eclipse stereo system in my tc and is one of the things holding me back but if the factory system has the same technology i will go nuts.

also... for those who have the factory nav, is it voice activated and is the resto of the sound system voice activated, such as saying the name of the song and it goes to it. lke the sync system ford has.

thanks!

Be prepared for some dissapointments. The Factory Nav does NOT have a music box, but it IS voice activated. The sound system however is NOT voice activated (No music box, so where will it pull the music from?)

In any case, if you want the top of the line technology from your NAV, don't get a factory Nav. But if you want added security knowing that your nav won't be stolen and you want integrated steering wheel controls (all of them won't work with aftermarket NAV, even with additional hardware) then buy the factory Nav.

I would say most bang from your buck comes with the Aftermarket equipment.

Queue Rob explaining that the factory nav is overpriced and you can buy aftermarket nav, bluetooth, camera, steering wheel adapters and installation for less than factory nav with a *TON* more features (being able to hack it to use nav/dvd while moving for instance). The only thing you will lose is the ability to control Bluetooth from the steering wheel.

Personally, I don't think there is a large enough plus as far as the integration of the factory nav to go with it over one of the aftermarket options out there.

I'd suggest taking a look through the audio/video part of the forums, there is a ton of information comparing factory to aftermarket systems as well as what you can expect from aftermarket setups.

well doesnt that blow... i kind of figured it wasnt part of the nav. i have a great aftermarket system right now and it integrates pretty well with my interior but i just love the look when it come right out of the factory. i have to kind of give the nod to the accord when it comes to their nav system setup but the maxima looks like it blows everything out of the water. i've messed a little with the new infiniti navigation system and it kicks *** and looks great. it rivales those aftermarket guys IMO.

they should just pop it in the A/C. also on a side note. does anyone know how much those new 19" maxima wheels would run for?

and...no i will not just get a maxima. i want a coupe and the G37 is sweet but still just too expensive for me. maybe when i turn 25.
