I've noticed that many of the menu selections in Music Box (e.g. search by album) "disappear" (they are grayed out and cannot be selected) while the car is in motion, and then reappear when the car is stopped. As soon as i take my foot off the brake, they disappear again. Is this a defect on my unit, or is that the way it's supposed to work?

It's normal...and I hated it! It also affects the NAV system. Who wants to pull over to make changes to the destination? Totally unnecessary IMO.

Here's the fix:

Thanks for the info. It also ignores that one might actually have a passenger in the car who is capable of changing a destination, or selecting an album to play.

That's some fix. Way too complicated for me to attempt.

100% agree with you! Very short-sighted limitation on the system that other car manufacturers don't implement (BMW, Audi).

You can always pay a stereo shop...the job isn't too hard really. If you've ever installed a stereo, or work on electronics its pretty straight forward.
