Lol.... You know whats funny? When my girl found the mushroom she said, ".... And it looks nothing like what Mario or Luigi would eat..." lol....

I hope this guy is being straight up with me.... Him telling management that we have mutual friends seems counterintuitive to me if he's going to be on my side, but then again I could be looking into it too deeply. I don't trust anybody in this situation.

Sooooooo..... My girlfriend's dad came over with his friend who knows about mold and does contracting stuff (the guy I was going to have fix it if the building let me)... And he used a moisture meter to find that the wall to the sides of the window sill below the sill, the cover over the hole in the wall that is in question, and the general area below the sill was reading off the charts.

He confirmed as I've said, that the wood on the window sill underneath the A/C is not discolored nor rotting in anyway, and there is no evidence of moisture coming in.

We removed the A/C from the window and looked down at the exterior cover for the passage where there used to be an in-wall A/C unit prior to our moving in.... Know what we found? The rubber/tar grommet sealer thing that is supposed to extend from the wall and onto the top of the exterior A/C cover was bubbled in one area. My girl's dad's friend was able to simply lift it with his finger. So basically there is a gap there that is allowing water to come in from outside and get trapped in the hollow hole in the wall that once housed an A/C... This is EXACTLY what I told the Super I thought it was on Saturday when he came to check it out and he simply said, "No." He also went on to tell me how he knows his job blah blah blah, which I will gladly remind him of when this is all done..... But anyway..... I think I've found the ACTUAL issue here.

The outside of the window seal is also a little loose so they have to get on that as well.

Problem now is, I now know the ACTUAL and technical reason why this is happening.... But I still have to be able to show/prove that if they try to stick to their guns and blame me. Hopefully this Environmental surveyor guy that they're sending on Sunday (the one I spoke to on the phone today and I found out I work with his brother who's an ER MD) is on the up and up and genuinely wants to help me because all anyone has to do in order to help me in this situation is not be scared of ACTUALLY finding the truth and the true cause here. The facts are actually very simple.

I'd ask your doctor friend if that is indeed his brother, and if he's a douche or not.

^Well, I don't think an environmental hygienist would do research on where I work, what department I'm in, find someone in that department with the same last name as him and then claim to be his brother lol....

But the guy came to the house today and took his air samples. He is a very nice guy... We removed the A/C from the window to examine the exterior cover of that hole in the wall, and his friend who was with him pointed out something that I didn't even notice the other day.... The cover they used is approx. 1" longer than the hole in the wall.... So, there is a gap on the side big enough to stick my fingers in. He told me, "You should get a reduction in rent for this." I said, "I'm just trying not to pay for it." He said, "You definitely shouldn't have to pay for it." Then he took pics of the cover and said he was going to send it to management.

He said that he was going to come back on either Wed or Thurs. with a couple guys and seal off the room properly, and supervise them fixing it... He said that they will fabricate a new cover for the exterior that actually fits, and that I shouldn't have to pay a dime, and it should be "the other way around", as in management should compensate me.

And crap like that is one of the reason's I stopped renting. Apartment owners are CHEAP. My last apartment had an electric heater. It was SUPER old (same age as the building, sometime from the 70's). It kept burning up wiring and heating elements in the winter and would trip the breaker. I'd wake up in the middle of the night, freezing my azz off and the apartment would smell like burnt electrical for days. The landlord would send his guy over, and the guy would replace the burnt wiring/element. I kept telling him that wiring doesn't just burn up. Wiring burns up because there is another problem. Finally the maintenance man told me he knew that, but that his boss wouldn't let him fix it correctly because it cost too much.

He did the same thing with the dishwasher. It would break down about once a month. The motor was going out and kept burning up wires/relays. Instead of replacing the motor, he just kept sending the guy over to replace the relay and wiring.
