In comparison to what?

In my eyes, the '60s were the height of automotive styling for the most part.

So you get a great looking car that makes gobs of torque, is RWD, big, makes a blissful exhaust note...

What's not to like?

Just like today's cars, there was a huge range.

Musclecars are from an era where a different line of thinking ruled. Today, the "cool" cars are all tiny, with buzzy, rev-happy engines. Musclecars are about the opposite. They're big, monstrously powerful, with engines tuned for a lot of torque instead of astronomical redlines and on-paper performance. Mainly due to the tech of the day, they generally handled poorly compared to todays cars. But that doesn't mean they were all dogs outside the drag strip. There were a lot of race-derived models (something today's world is irritatingly short on) that were real track machines. Unlike today, though, the race models were usually only subtly different looking from their base-model cousins. No need for EVO boyracer crap. A flat black stripe and maybe some subtle fenderwork for wider tires and a hood scoop was about all. There were exceptions, of course, like the horrendously overdone Mustangs.

To my ears, there is still no sound on earth as wonderful as the rumble of a race tuned push rod V8. Nothing comes close.

Are you talking about a Mustang Cobra, or an A/C 427 Shelby Cobra?

I'd take the Cobra any day.

gimme a SuperPerformance Daytona kit car.

or a Factory Five car.

sign me up for one of these

granted...for the price spent...I'd maybe opt for a GT-R instead...but you can't match the sex of this car with it.

I loveeeeeeeee muscle cars. They're the epitome of awesome. To me they represent brute force and defiance. They're just raw. All these stupid new cars nowadays with their fancy technology, lame *** safety features, and small, compact engines that you can barely work on. Bah they don't make em' like they used to. Nothing compares. I swear I'm gonna own one or more later down the road.

Just a few of my favorites:

Cuda GTX Trans Am Charger Chevelle SS GTO Firebird Mach 1 Camaro SS Roadrunner

Muscle cars to me are an era when it was all about power. Big cubic inch motors, as MOD put it, gobbs of torque, and styling that said, "Don't F"#K WITH ME!" And the sound of a V8...

I am a big fan of the Firebird and the Trans Am, but lest we forget the real bad boys of Red Arrow era...

The 1973 455S.D.

And the one that started the Trans Am name...

1969 1/2 Trans Am Ram Air IV
