I ordered a TRD short shifter (got it for $26 shipped! BWAHAHAHAAHAH) and installed it yesterday. After some fiddling with the shifter and running through the gears I felt satisfied and then got all showered and prettied up (you know, us ballerinas need to do that).
I get in the deuce coupe and I start her up. I hear a belt squeek, and I think, "Hmm... that can't be good." Then I drive down the street and it gets really loud. Then it suddenly stops. My lights go dim and my battery light is on.
At this point I"m screaming expletives in my car and flip a U and go back home. Turns out that when I changed the belt, my dad (who can not just let me do something on my own... ) tightened it waaaaay to tight. And so, it snapped.
So today I'm sitting here waiting for the gunk cleaner to clean up the carbon build up on that side of the engine to work and then I'm goign to go and swap the belt and go enjoy my new shifter kit.
By the by, TRD short shifter = muchos Pwnination of all sorts. It feels so solid and it locks into gears like a gated shifter only without the gayness of the gates being there. I loooooves it.
