I've got a 2006 M35 and am going to get either an FX35 or Murano. As I look at the specs and compare...it looks to me that other than the horsepower difference...the only other difference is that Navigation is not available on the Murano.

Any thoughts on how these two models stack up and do you know if the 2007 Murano will have Navigation?

Uh... Murano has Navigation. It's part of the Touring package, which also includes the intelligent key and back up camera. Other than the transmission, there isnt much difference other than price and badging.

But they sit A LOT different. As in inside. Go sit in both, feel around. Check placement of controls, knobs, etc. The FX is a lot different in seeing out the front from the longer nose.

How it feels it to you is what I personally feel will be your deciding factor. It's kinda like deciding between which kind red apples to buy, not apples or oranges.

Hope this helps ya!

No problem. I was actually looking at moving out there. More room ro roam.

Good luck with your purchase. You cant go wrong either way.

Sorry I am a little late on this post. But there is quite about of a difference between the Murano and the FX.

The FX is based off the G35 making it rear wheel drive. It also has a traditional automatic transmission.

The Murano is based off the Altima platform so it’s front wheel drive. And has a CVT automatic transmission.

These two things make the drive of them quite a bit different from each other.

I guess I'm late on this one too, but as a newbie to this forum and the owner of an 04 FX35, I am a bit appalled at the fact that the FX is grouped into the Murano category. Anyone who owns an FX will tell you that it shares no major design with the Murano; Murano is a 240 hp FWD built on the Altima platform, the FX is 280/320 RWD/AWD built on the 350Z/G35 platform. I guess it was easier to group the two different vehicles into the same category based upon the fact that they look similar?

As for the original question from 'steviebstrummin', I seriously hope that you drove both vehicles to see what the differences are. If you already owned an Infiniti, you might like the FX better. Just my two cents.

They are grouped due to size and both being SUVs. Should traffic pick up for either vehicle, then seperation of forums may happen. Right now, there is no reason to seperate other than the fact that they are two differently styled and badged SUVs.

So, bring a bunch of FX owners over and get it busy. At that time I'll split it for ya

Looks like Stevie never reported back.

I agree with others here, that there's a large difference between the two. I like the look of both of them, but had more fun driving the FX. Also like the view forward better--I don't care for deep instrument panels.

I've had the opportunity to drive the Murano and the Fx. I must say, the Murano has a nice drive, especially with it's new transmission. The dealer almost convinced (new 06,backup cam etc etc).Guess what? I chose the 04 Fx. Drives like a dream, looks fab,get good stares. I still slow down to look at others.Cannot add anything to a perfect crossover.Well, maybe not yet.

I'd like to say I'm well qualified to answer this question because my wife drives an '05 Murano and I have a '06 FX35. The two are quite different, however it depends on what you are looking for.

I'd rate the them like this:

Performance - FX35, without question

Interior Comfort - Murano (not that the FX is uncomfortable, but the seats are very tight, reminds me of my Corvette)

Ride - FX35 (BUT again here depends on what you want. The FX isn't your run of the mill SUV. It's very sporty and rides like a sports car. I like that, some people don't)

Features - Would have to give it a tie here. Most of the useful features are now available in both cars: Nav, bluetooth, Reverse Cam, etc.

Sound System - FX35

Looks - FX35 (my opinion)

Price - Murano

I have some severe disabilities with a broken back and lots of pain and difficulty in mobility. I had a new model Toyota Avalon which was too difficult to get into and out of ; and a Toyota Highlander that is a lower end model and doesn't have some of the features I desire, so I traded the Avalon on the 2007 Murano SL AWD. I was easier to enter and exit thaan the X35 and more comfortable for my needs. The leather was more durable in appearance than the perforated x35. I never even got a call back from the Infinity dealer (I also have a 2000 I-30) and the Nissan dealer gave me a terrific deal on the trade (I wound up receiving practically the same as what I paid for the Avalon which listed for $34K and I bought for $27.5K). The steering is a little harder on the Murano, but I do have torn arm ligaments.

I can't believe that Murano owners do not talk about the terrible ride this car has. Not if you are only two of you but my rear seat passengers say things like "OUCH!" and "OH MY GOD!". This car has the worst ride I have ever felt. I am 61 and have owned more then 20 cars. Buy mine please.

I think the Murano rides great. Never had a rear seater complain. But I have a 350Z and compared to it the Murano rides well. But then again even the 350Z rides good to me. I like to feel the road and every bump in it.
