Hi,

I am looking forward buying a 09 Murano. I am looking for a SUV with ~ 3,500 lb tow capacity, as I plan to haul about 2,000- 2,500 lb in a single axle, 6x10 enclosed trailer. I plan o use it about 5 to 8k miles per year (summer time - to go to race track).

My question is; did anyone have bad experiences with the CVT and towing ?

Or can anyone give me feedback on this subject ?

Thank you,

Pierre-Olivier

Happy Holidays and welcome to NICOclub! Glad to have you here in the Murano Forum!

I towed about 38 rolls of wet sod with my Murano. It towed very well, nice and smooth, and I swear to you that somehow I was able to achieve 23 MPG on my way home going about 55mph on a county highway!!!! I was very impressed!

I have a 2006 Murano S AWD and it will tow an all aluminum 1600 lb. trailer up to about 50-55 mph with no problem. But above that there is too much aerodynamic drag. "D" is geared too high an lugs the engine, "L" and the rpm is on the high side. Either way it strains the drive drain. When trying to tow at 65 mph my fuel mileage dropped to 9 mpg. My race trailer is about 7 feet off the ground, maybe a low profile or open trailer would be easier.
