Hi all. I drive a 2006 Murano which has had a front suspension knock for about the past 10,000 miles which has got worse over time and now it's getting on my nerves! Nissan have tried to find the problem but no joy. Has anybody had a similar problem? The cars only done 32000 miles and has only been used on the road and no accident/repairs.I look forward to any replies. Thanks Daz.

Can you describe the driving conditions when this knock occurs? Does the knock occur on uneven road surfaces? While accelerating/decelerating? While turning? The knock can come from one of the many bushings used in the suspension, but it all depends on which bushing is being stressed at any given time. If you hear a "clunk" while driving on an uneven surface (or pulling into an uphill driveway, for instance), the most likely culprit is one of the stabilizer bar links. If it clunks while turning the wheel on flat ground, you may need a new strut bearing. If the clunk occurs while accelerating or decelerating, you may need a control arm bushing.

Thanks for your reply. The knocking only appears on rough surfaced roads, not large bumps or pot holes. It happens on level ground at any speed and is worst when the suspension is only being deflected a small amount, rapidly. I understand it could be any of the joints / bushes but Nissan have spent hours looking and checking and they can't find the problem and they have never seen the problem before even on higher mileage cars. I was hoping another Murano owner had had a similar problem and fixed it.Thanks.
