A dealer in Fort Worth Texas offered me a 2WD Murano SL with a Premium Pkg only (along with other junk sucj as mats, splash guards, etc.). They're offering $27700 including the $1500 rebate.

They claim this is the lowest they can go. Should I take the bait or can I trim more off of it?

Def. try to get them to go lower.

I got mine in January.

Here's what I got:

Murano SL AWD (09)Premium PackageLeather PackageSplash guards and all that jazz

for $29k.

This was in January, and car dealerships have def. been hurting MUCH more recently. In fact for the exact same car, I had offered a different dealership 24k, and they accepted the offer in June (5 months too late sadly).

So you can def. get them to go lower.

Always contact a few other dealers to see what else is available for deals!!! You may be shocked at how great of a deal you can get!!!

I've done that too. Of the 15 or so dealers I emailed (and called if they never responded), I only got 4 to return my inquiries.

Don't know what gives, but it seems the dealers are very unwilling to deal. Could this be caused the cash 4 clunkers program? If a customer goes in with a $4500 they'd be more than willing to pay sticker?

Or is it that the Muranos are in short supply now (or so they claim)?

Welcome to the Murano Forum folks!!! Glad to have you guys as new NICOclub members!!!

Fabulous deal on the Murano purchase!!!

Keep in mind, you will contact a lot of dealers, and there will probably be more that DON'T respond than dealers that do. You can also call dealers. BE VERY SPECIFIC about what what you want, and when you are going to do it.....trust me, it works! Hope this helps, good luck!!!

Folks,

Anyone have experience negotiating with the Cash for Clunkers program? My wife is in love with the Murano and the 93 J30 she has been driving since 96 is just about spent. I went to one dealer yesterday and got a huge song and dance about how hard these cars are to get and they are flying off dealer lots. Anyway the deal I was offered is not very good and searching online there does not seem to be a shortage of vehicles in my area. My wife wants leather so we need to get the PP. The car the dealer closest to me has is optioned with leather, PP and 360 degree. I think the MSRP is 35,915 there is a 500 rebate. They are at 33,995. Is it unreasonable for me to expect to buy this car for a max of 31,000?

It seems that the dealer wants to use the Cash for Clunkers money instead of negotiating. Silly me was thinking they would do both.

You may want to go to truecar.com and check how much buyers are paying on average for that trim of Murano based on your zip. Since the specific Murano trim I'm looking for is hard to come by here in Dallas, I either have to go up to an LE or down to an S.

Welcome to the Murano Forum! Glad to have you as a new member of NICOclub!

The key here is to find another dealer with a vehicle you are interested in purchasing that you would also be willing to purchase from. See what they can do for you. I think you could get the vehicle down to the $32,000ish range. $31K might be a bit too low. The Murano 360 pkg is pretty hot right now.

This thread has gone dark this month. Did nobody buy during the Labor Day bonus cash promotion? Or were there just not any deals worth bragging about?

I think you did quite well. No one will sell an SL 360 or LE for anything close to invoice in my neck of the woods.

Welcome to the Murano forum Newbies!!!! Glad to have you here!

The Murano is currently the 5th most difficult vehicle to find, especially with the great deals on the 360 model. Those have been selling really well!

I purchased my new 09 SL on Saturday from a dealer here in Northern Virginia. The configuration is:

Tinted Bronze w/beige interiorFWDLeather PackagePremium PackageTech PackageNavigation PackageDual Panel MoonroofSplash GuardsFloor Mats

The MSRP was $37,795 and the invoice was $34,445. I paid $33,245 plus TTL. The dealer threw in a free oil change and 3 year ding/dent removal.

The "Customer Cash Adjusted True Market Value" for this car in my zip code is listed @ $34,170 and the TrueCar data for this configuration in my zip code claims that a "great" price is less than $34,712. I feel like it was a pretty decent deal but that's really subjective I guess.
