Hi. I need your help to put my mind at ease, and save me from a trip to the 'stealership'. i just bought a black 2006 murano with 70k miles on it. Can you guys (and gals) please confirm that if you are going down the street at 25-30 mph (40-50km/h) and you just barely tap the gas and hold it to maintain that speed...does your Murano vibrate at the gas pedal? Actaully the vibration could be felt by the passenger too, if he really focuses, but the driver notices it easily. Basically when i feather the gas pedal at around this speed, the rpms are just barely over 1,000rmp. It sort of feels like when you drive a manual transmission, and you are in too high of a gear for the speed/load. I can sometimes feel the whole car shake too (noticed it once or twice), and also sometimes hear some rattling noises during the vibration. (this noise sounds sort of like a metal grinding noise, but very quiet, and goes away quickly)

This noise has gotten me really worried, and its hard to enjoy the new car. Do you guys notice this too? Is your Murano running smooth when you barely touch the gas at slow speeds? Thank you!

Zero noises or vibrations here, and we have similar mileage (66K) on our 04 SE.

Have you tried taking it back to where you bought it to have them check it out?

The sad truth is that it's always a risk buying a used car - especially one with as little mileage on it as the one you just got. Good luck.

I HAD A SIMILIAR PROBLEM, THE PROBLEM WAS IN A LOOSE EXHAUST SYSTEM. YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR EXHAUST STSTEM ENTIRELY. HAVE THE CAR LIFTED AND START SHAKING THE EXHAUST MAKE SURE THERE IS NO RATTLES OR LOOSE CLAMPS AND THAT ALL THE RUBBER HANGERS ARE IN PLACE. GOOD LUCK.

I'm also getting that vibration but with an 06 @ 92000 mi on it. I did take it into a Nissan dealership to figure out a check engine light and they told me that there was an issue with the catalitic (pardon my spelling) converter. They told me to run the high end stuff for a few tanks and see if that cleans things out. I ran 93 octane for 2 tanks and the check engine light is gone but when I'm at any speed that lets the rpm range get to 1000 I get that vibration still. Honestly I'm starting to think that's just the way it is.

Here's an idea. Swing by a different Nissan dealer and take a 2010 MO out for a spin. If it does the same thing we're probably all good. If it doesn't then some more research is in order.

Just had the dealer look at this problem, technician took it for a drive, said perfromance is great but it does have more of a "growl" at low rpm than other Muranos. He put it on the hoist had a good look at eahaust system and it also looks fine !! Very frustrating, Anybody have any Ideas ?

Thanks Mike

What fuel octane are you running though your truck. My guy mentioned the exhaust thought, and more specifically catalytic converter, and after I told him I run BP 87 octane he said to try 2-3 tanks of the good stuff. I did 3 tanks of BP top end fuel and the chug/growl has mostly gone away.

I switched back to the cheep stuff after that. My check engine light came back on for about a day and a half and has been gone since. I do still get a bit of the growl, but the chuging feeling has gone.

P.S. GO FLAMES!!

Premium gas is recommended (though NOT required, thanks to the knock sensor and automatic timing retardation) in Nissan VQ engines for a reason. The VQ is just too nice an engine to cut corners - and save only a couple bucks per fill up - by using cheap gas.

My 2005 Murano had what seems like a similar problem. At first thought the wheels where out of balance. However re balancing did not cure it. It did not occur on all roads and at times was quite severe. Nissan dealer found that the rear brake caliper was binding £500.00 later with new brake pads and caliper all seems well. hope this helps car had 60,000 miles on clock.

Considering lpg conversion to save on gas as its £1.12p per ltr here in uk ! has anyone had a murano converted to lpg if so are you happy ?

A couple of buck per fill adds up quick sunshine. On my last fill it was a difference of 33 cents per gallon. @ putting 14ish gallons into my tank the difference of 4.92$ means something to me. especially when I fill twice a week.

And Globalgremlin, dudes in England. They've been getting screwed royally on gas prices for years now.

If you've got enough money for it to make sure we "respect" the VQ, cool, send a little stimulus package our way. Otherwise, cheap stuff it is. At least I am usung BP which is one of the cleanest to be using. Shell's cleaner but I did a little experiment and BP got me and extra 3mpg.

Here the diff between premium and regular is only about $.20/gallon, or about $3/fill up. I still say that's insignificant when you consider we're fueling a $30-35K car - even if you are filling up 2-3 times a week (we fill up 1-2 times per week).

True things were different for many Americans during the 2 Bush recessions between 2001 and 2008. But now that we have a proactive, confidence inspiring president in charge and our economy is improving, a few extra bucks a week for premium gas is no big deal for most Americans.(sorry to get political)

Damn your an optimist. Lets give the cat a full term before we declare him the savior. And as for saving the money, I just aint making that much. The reason I was able to score my MO is because it was a 3 year old with 91000 miles on it at the ragedy end of the year. So I got it for 10550. Otherwise, I'd probably be on a jeep liberty or ford escape forum right now. Plus remember, I'm living in Detroit area. Wall street got unconditional bail outs. The big 3 are getting hosed. Though truthfully, I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I actually feel sorry for GM & Chrysler. Ford does't really care about the bail outs as they don't need it.
