We have an 05 S and recently took it on a trip to Chicago. It has about 45K and for the first time I noticed after hitting a bump, the back end would sort of jump sideways. Never felt anything like this before and never have experienced it in any other car I have driven. Just wondering if anyone else out there has had the same problem. Will likely end up going to the dealer, but want to educate myself first if possilbe. Thanks in advance...

Needs alignment.

I'd bet money the rear toe setting is out of whack.

Since it was related to your lateral motion, You may also have a dead shock in the back.

Thanks for the replies. I will take it in for alignment. I looked around under the back and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Is there a better way to check the shocks other than pushing on the bumper and observing the rebound?

Look at the shocks themselves to check for any oil leaks or other obvious signs they're going bad.
