Anyone out there have a CAI installed on their Murano like I do? If so I was wondering a few things if you don't mind. How much did you pay? How is your fuel economy? Notice any increase in performance?

I'll start

OTTO-R CAI w/ K&N filter

-paid: $81 including shipping

-fuel: noticed an increase of about 2mpg. average

-performance: noticed a huge increase in power (and the sound it makes...OMG!!!)

Note: That's for the short ram air intake. Somehow I ended up with the CAI at the short ram price. You can find these on ebay too but it still comes from pro car parts.

Quick question. I have checked and checked and checked but I can't seem to find out why there is a whistling sound coming from my CAI at low RPMs. I have double checked all the fittings and hose clamps and all is well there. Is it maybe that there is so much more air moving into the throttle body that the plate is creating this tune. Any thoughts please let me know.

People:

I installed my INJEN Intake back in november of last year and it is great.

What I included was the BY PASS VALVE from AEM because in Puerto Rico it rains a lot and we get sudden floods in the street so I dont want to get water in my engine...

Here is a link of the pictures of my Murano :

My next project is changing the Intake Manifold .with the Kinetix Racing Intake Manifold ...

What kind of pro's and/or cons did you notice after installing your CAI and how much is that intake manifold?

Sorry for the late reply to your question but I was disconnected for a while...

The difference in the car, BIG, with the CAI was the starting point, the reaction time improved a lot. The Kinetix Manifold gave the MO a better performance between 2,500 to 4,000 RPM. In small words the time from Stopped posiion to 100 MPH was decreased easyly by 2 seconds or more.

In the GAS side, if you drive it normally the AVG on the gas increased, but if you aqre stepping on it on every Stop sign or Light, It tends to consume more gas... I have done both and when doing long traveling it is much better than doing city traffic. I have to learn not to floor it every time, but I like the sound it does, so it is my fault....

The cost for everything was 1,100. This includes the Kinetix Intake, The Phenolic spacers and the CAI. and about 4 hours of labor, tha difficult part is taking off the original Intake, It has 2 bolts on the rear of it that really test your patience.... The bolt that holds the power stearing hose and the bracket that holds the intake in position.... everything else is easy...

Hi guys,New to the forum here, with a '05 black Murano S. I just put in a CAI this past weekend and noticed my average MPG reading on my fuel display is only reading 12.1 mpg. Before the installation, I was getting 24.9 mpg. I was hoping to increase the MPGs. Is there something I have to do to get it back or beyond my old MPGs of 24.9?

The calculations made by the fuel display is based on injector flow rate and duty cycle which is hardly accurate. For example, it would be low if you were going up hill when you took the reading. On top of that, it displays the results of your most recent driving "style".

The best way to calculate is using miles driven divided by the number of gallons used. Use as much of the tank as possible.

Thanks for the info. It's been creeping up slowly over the last week. It's now reading 18 MPG's. I will use your calculation to detemine the actual miles use. Would you happen to know what size gas tank the Murano has? I think its 18 gallons.

My murano has about a 20 gallon tank I have a 2003 LS so It think that is about slandered with all models but I am not sure. I was wandering about CAI's I would like to get one but I see three main types Weapon R, INJEN and this K&N mentioned above. Is there any comparison on this CAI's. Does anyone have any recomindations?

Mileage update. I put my CAI in about a month ago and I'm currently getting 22mpg's (~420 miles per full tank of premium gas). Oh yeah, and thats city miles. Haven't had the chance to calculate highways miles yet. I was hoping to get about 25 mpgs, so I bought one of those fuel magnets off Ebay for 5 bucks. I know theres a lot of negative talk about this thing, but I figured I'd give it a try for 5 dollars. Just put it on last week and it say it takes about 3 full up to notice the difference. I keep everyone updated to see if this thing makes a difference or not.

P.S.I went with the Injen Brand of CAI. Autoevery was having a sale with free shipping. Here's the link to their sales page:http://www.autoanything.com/?PID=994989&kc=AFFCJ

Best way to calculate your ACTUAL MPG is this (well at least this is how I do it):

1) Fill your tank to full, meaning let it run till the pump automatically stops2) Jot down your actual odometer reading (on the receipt so its easier)3) Drive how you normally drive until almost empty4) Fill it up again to full (same gas station/pump if possible) then write down the number of gallons you freshly put in.5) Deduct your first odometer reading to the new odometer reading (to get the actual miles driven for that tank) then divide it with how many gallons you just filled. 6) VOILA! Your actual MPG. Do this everytime you fill up and you'll get a more accurate average MPG.

Note: Good thing about this simple way is you can know your MPG everytime you gas up even if its only half-empty. Just make sure you write down your odometer and compare it with the new reading every time you visit the pump.
