well i already searched and found nothing contrete as of yet. I know alot of people run the Redline MT-90 in there trans but i cannot find it where i live and i can't justify spending $10 a bottle plus shipping, YET. when i first swapped the motor in my car, i filled the trans with only 2 bottles of Coastal 75W-90, which the front said API GL3, GL4, GL5 certified..now is this ok to run or should i go to something different? I've heard that I can and that its bad, so maybe we can have a verdict on here lol.

you want something that is GL 3 and not 4 or 5 you will probably be fine for a while, but get it changed when you can. and make sure that your transmission is filled up all the way, that will kill it way before having the wrong kind of fluid will.

You want GL-4 for Nissan trannys. AMSOIL makes some 75-90 GL4 spec.

If you run GL-5 in a Nissan transmission your syncros will take a crap on you.

Honestly im not sure if i want to run a synthetic in my transmission.. I switched to the AMSOIL and i started to get random grinds in second when its cold when i had none before. This really is meaningless and is kinda understood, synth cleans everything out but still.. Nothing wrong with Nissan GL-4 dino oil. Its what they recommend, its what they battle test their trannys with and it works.

yeah thats right you want gl-4 not 3, i wasnt really thinking last night. you want either a natural oil or the redline mt-90, synthetic can be too slippery, not allowing the synchromesh to work correctly.

I used some Motul Gear 3000 thats full synthetic in my 260K transmission. Its GL-4, and GL-5. Even the synthetic blend MotylGear is both GL-4, and GL-5. I have searched and spoke to many shops around here, and they all say that its ok. As long as it states GL-4, even if it covers GL-4, GL-5, etc.

The answer to your question is yes, its fine. A lot of people like and recommend the redline MT stuff, its gl4/gl5.
