Hi guys, newcomer to this site.

I have a 1994 Infiniti J30 and it has a number of problems.

One thing is the headlight system. One headlight would work fine and the other would be off. While driving the other would come back on, then it would shut off. This happens to both headlights and at times I have lost complete function as both headlights go out. I have tried high beams but even that at times fails.

Another thing is the doors would lock on it's own. I got an after market alarm and had them remove the factory alarm. It STILL does it, but not as much.

Recently the engine light came on and the engine started to vibrate more. I brought it to a mechanic and he said it was a bad fuel injector. It seemed to work but just the other day it happened again.

Lastly sometimes when I turn on the car, the starter makes a screeching sound. I had the starter replaced and the mechanic said the flywheel is fine too. It works fine, but every once in a while, it would do it again.

Could this all be due to an electrical problem? Could the computer be involved? I really need help in this cause it is driving me insane. The car runs great and is in great condition. PLEASE HELP!

Thanks, I found a lot of good things, but nothing on the engine light/vibration. Learned a lot about the headlights and auto lock for the doors. Thanks a lot for that!

Do you have a big loss of power when the vibration/Light thing happens ?When My Injector went out it felt like I had a 4 cylinder motor!!You can check them easily with a voltmeter.

The screech may be a belt. If your injector goes, it usually just stops working. If you are getting spark and no gas, it is likely your injector.

Don't know about the other problems.

The loss of power is felt when I get to about 65MPH. The guy already replaced the fuel injector, but if it's the problem again he will just have to do it again. Plus it has a warranty, so he needs to do it.

As for the belt, I don't know what you mean because I had most of the belts replaced. The screeching has to be the starter, everyone who started it before said it was fine, but then once in a while it would do it and I would have to wait a sec to start it again.

Welcome to NICO!!!

That screech you hear is because you need a new flywheel, your flywheel has lost some teeth and will lose some more over time. It will get harder and harder to start your car. When you get your fly wheel replaced, you might as well get your starter done too, they're pretty much in the same place.

The flywheels on the J are known to degrade over time and cause starting and screeching problems.

Once the inginition is released the starter stops. If the noise is present afterwards it very well may be one of the pulleys, bearings, or belts.

On the same note, if the belts are not tight enough, especially the fan-alternator belt, it may be slipping on the fan clutch trying to get it moving. If you recently had them replaced I'd look at checking the tension. This would be more true in wet and cold engine start-ups. Just a thought as you description sounds alot like the problems I had.

If the loss of power only at 65, or is there a RPM range in other gears that duplicate the same hesitation?

Thanks for the welcome Guys! Been telling everyone about you all.

I just got the starter replaced so I might just get a new flywheel too now that you mention it.

And when I have the car in gear it vibrates. Took it to the mechanic, he found that the number 6 fuel injector was bad. He showed me how it wasn't working, this happened to the number three as well, this time he showed me how it was working.

Has anyone else had problems with the injectors? I know it's an older car, but do they fail like this?
