6 days.

SIX FRIGGING DAYS...

That's all I got to enjoy my new stereo, which courtesy of a professional stereo thief, was jacked this morning. No damage to the car other than the window that was broken, and even that they rolled up in a bathroom mat so it didn't get all over the place.

Someone is going to get skinned slowly with a dull knife if I ever catch them...

Dude, that blows goats for dimes. I'm sorry to hear about that. If you catch him, I know much worse ways of torture than a dull knife skinning.

Think of shattering teeth with a pair of Channel locks, and bamboo shoots under the fingernails.... those are only the ones I can publish on the forums, there are much worse.

It sucks that people use the internet to scope out what people have. I am just not wanting that tho happen to me. So I don't post what is in the car, or what it looks like

Doubtfull that people actually use the forums as a tool for theft.

1. They're usually not that smart.2. You see what the car has, but in an area as big as Everett, good luck in finding the car.3. If you find my car, and then find my house, and have the sack to break into my garage, please do... I have a great surprise for the unlucky suckjob that has the suicidal tendencies to break into my house.

I would doubt that that's where the thief found out about my car. We have a lot of pro car thieves in this city, and several pro stereo thieves. It's probably one of the latter.

If not, it was probably a stereo installed, because of how neatly everything was done.

I dunno, all I can say it is't not some punk smash-and-grab teenager, that's about all I know for sure.

I do have insurance, but the deductible is $500... I'll be getting my window fixed and re-tinted for free and getting SOME money back for the stereo, but not nearly enough to replace it outright. Also, I had left my MP3 player in it, which is not covered by the auto policy, and the homeowner's deductible is way more than the MP3 player is worth, so I just got completely shafted on that one.

Besides which, I give up. This is the 3rd stereo I've had stolen since I moved to this city. I'm just going to put my stock unit back in and get a bluetooth headset for when I'm driving.

I do park outside all the time because 1) my garage doors don't work right and 2) my garage is full of shyte. My new house has a 1-car garage, but the garage opener needs work and/or replacement.

Noah - if I catch them, I'll be sure to call you so that you can... assist... in their interrogation.

Oh, and Nissan keyless entries do NOT go off if a door is opened in an unauthorized manner. And my dogs are fired for barking at everything (neighbors, cats, squirrels) EXCEPT the thieves.

Dude, no matter how many times it happens, it always feels like getting kicked in the nads. That's the main reason why I have always been so cautious about getting an aftermarket stereo. I have gotten screwed way too many times by punks that want something for nothing.

When you find him, let me know and I'll fly out there to help. I have ways of making them talk.

My condolences.

I appreciate the offer, but I think I'm just going to make the V so it's no longer a target. I'm going to stick with the stock HU. I am very glad I didn't sell it now.

it's all good EV, I know your feelings. I like being an installer, because I learn vulnerabilities of the system, and do things to make it either not stealable, or make it hard as $hit. My alarm system is really loud and annoying, and I have super bright LEDs to deter people from wanting to get in. Besides my Eclipse HU would do them no good. Once power is cut off of the headunit, you need a security code to unlock it which is set by the user either with a cd, or a memory stick, and is rendered useless unless you have that!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

The facts seem to suggest this job was done by a thief with connection to your installer. The thieves knew exactly when the car would be finished, where you live and the procedure for removing the parts. It's too uncanny for this to be just an coincidence. These are just circumstantial evidences, but something to think about.

Good luck with your insurance claim.

I would invest in a good alarm system, preferably one that will shoot a taser at the would-be robber. That would teach them. (or perhaps pull off your face plate when you park so they can't see if you've got a radio worth stealing or not.)

Petty thieves are just about the lowest of the low. My magazines hold 15 rounds and I'm ready to get out there and hunt 'em down for you.

I agree with Bob. I would be willing to bet that a huge percentage of car stereo thefts, specifically the clean ones are related to your installer. They know where you live, what you have, and how its hooked up. As far as an alarm, its only effective if someone does something about it when it goes off. Around here, everyone has one and everyone ignores them. I put my money with my insurance policy, 100.00 deductible!! ANd it covers my aftermarket stuff as long as it's a part of the car and I have receipts, so the box has to "bolted" down. Other than that, maybe install the stuff yourself, and keep it out of sight as much as possible (remove the faceplate, amps not in view etc...) It sucks that someone stole you sh*t, it will probably be on Ebay next week...

Man, that sucks. I know how it feels too. Someone ripped off a $350 Kenwood head unit out of my Corolla last summer. Had a 'stealth face' too. Those are such ****. Next one I went with a regular detachable face, which I religiously remove and stow in the center console storage. If the thieves look inside and see that the face isn't on the stereo, then they won't bother breaking in.

Do you have the serial number? If so, then make sure you give it to the cops. Pawn shops have to turn over a list of serial numbers for all the electronics they recieve, so if the thief tries to pawn it, then you'll get it back.

Holy crap! (I signed in and decided to read this thread first... catchy title...)

Um... at least they didn't get glass everywhere or hack up your dash...

Did they take the under-the-seat sub too?

Bet you're glad you didn't get the more expensive stereo...

well since codered has proven you can fit a body in the hatchback if you find the guy who did it then just pack him up in the rear and make a cross country trip with him in the back here to KY and i am sure we could come up with some creative ways to get rid of the body there are alot of places to hide a body in these parts lol
