Hello! I'm military and just arrived in Korea a few weeks ago. I've been looking for a car, and I stumbled across a 1992 GTR R32 Skyline. After much exhausting reading from this awesome site, I've deamed it a car that would be fun to drive in Korea and not to try and take to the U.S.

With that said, I have no idea what the the price should be and whether it would be worth buying just for a year of driving in Korea. This is a quote from the online post:

R34 N1 turbo's (good for 500awhp) *Engine and turbos replaced last year *All wheel drive *all wheel steering *Power FC with hand held (after market ECU) *Boost, exhaust temp, oil temp, oil pressure, air/fuel ratio gauges *bride full race bucket seat *new paint job *glove box has turbo timer, lap counter and gauges built into a carbon fiber face plate *upgraded Greddy intercooler pipine *new race radiator and thermastat *panasport 2 peice rims

The car needs a new front bumper. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to make a bad decision here. Thanks in advance!

I hear the roads in Korea are s*** and traffic is ridiculous. If this is true, why drop coin on a nice car?

I'm at Kunsan, which is towards the south where the traffic isn't too bad. Around Seoul, it can be really really bad. The rural roads are bad, but they have a very nice interstate structure.

I think you should do more reading. if you have to ask us.. there is still too much you dont know.

spend a few more nights on NICO and in the Rb forum, and get familiar with your dream car.

If you take into consideration that with all those mods, the car has probably been beat on, which is why it needed the engine and turbos replaced.

Also, remember, the car is not worth what the owner put into it. He could have $10-15K in mods on top of what he paid, but that doesn't mean the car is worth that much.

The car is probably worth about $10K over here in Japan, so figure in your import cost and JDM tax and it probably has a real worth of about $12-13K MAX.

Sounds like the car was either a trailer queen or a track slut (street racer), so figure it's been a track slut (street racer) and not in the greatest condition.

Offer him $8K and go from there, but don't pay over $10K.

I agree. I am sure that car was beat on. I think this is a tough car to figure out the value on, especially because it is not imported to the US. I grew up around American musclecars, and am know their values extremely well. But this is new territory when it comes to imports.

Going to Korea made me put my 406 sb '71 Chevy project truck on a hiatus. Plus my '94 Corvette is continuing to be a garage queen. It is tough giving up the passion for tinkering/modifying for the time being!

Before buying any car if you are not mechanically inclined then get a friend who is to look over the car. Can you afford it and if so its a chance to drive around in a car that is harder to do back home. You have a craftshop on base that has all the tools and people to help you work on it also. If you can afford it then enjoy it.

Thanks for the comments, but I think I'm going to pass on the GTR. While they are probably a blast to drive, I just don't have the facilities to be fixing/modifying this car. I am in sort of a remote location and I'll just save money for the turbo kit for my Corvette for when I get back to the states. Thanks again!
