i say make your own muffler out of sheet metal, just make a box, and like make a maze inside of it then seal it all up and put a fat folger's can on the end. that way it's cheap, the internal layout is already inside a bunch of kiddie magazines and you can fully customize it to your exacting specifications

Take a look at the Dynomax Turbo muffler for imports. It is a favorite on altimas.net for 1st gen owners that do not want a loud exhaust.

Since you have a 240sx, the similarity are many. If you need to replace your catback, go with 2.25" custom.

lateralmotion, i love your idea for a home made muffler. but you forgot the special alloy coating for the muffler (foil and glue). oh, and to bolt it up to the cat, use PVC pipe. its light-weight and comes in a veriety of sizes

If you just want a muffler go with any N 1 style muffler, they have a silencer that you can take out if you want to be loud. If you talking exhaust system go with Apex-i but is going to cost you about $500 dollars. You can always buy just the Apex-i muffler and go to a muffler shop to make you a custom piping for around $150 dollars.
