long time no talk guys... dont even know if any of my old friends are around here. been too busy spending money elsewhere to do anything to the car.

anyway my stock muffler looks like crap and doesnt sound too good... im not into fart-cans, but i want somtehing with a decent sound to it... of course im a cheap *** so price is of concern. any suggestions? i used the search page but didnt turn up much.

not like it matters much but my cars a 1993 hatch... ive had her for just about a year now. she's just about to hit the 70,000 mile mark! which means i drove about 20,000 miles this year. good god, i gotta check those numbers and see if that's right.

and on another note, anyone have good suggestions for aftermarket 4x6s? i have some of those cheap 'punkts from crutchfield that sound abysmal.

purple horney! that's good stuff

some of the mufflers on ebay are decent, can't really be sure what you're getting though. the finishes are usually okay, but sometimes the filler is some weird material or the canister won't be perfectly round or something. might get lucky though! $50 muffler and $500 looks! :D

I bought a 3A Racing muffler off ebay for about $85shipped.

It's the 3" dual square tip on that page.

It looks great, sounds fantastic, and paired with the 2.5inch piping from the cat, I got a full cat-back exhaust for a total of $180. :)

I have some pyle 4x6's in my car. sound great, handle power, and got all 4 for like $140 out of a catalog

get some straight-through mufflers (a.k.a. glasspacks), IMO they're the best for high flow and cutting noise. I wanna do HS header, 2.25" piping, high flow cat, 2 glasspacks inline and one with a 2.75 inch tip on the end, should get a nice tone to it without harsh, farty high noises, and have pretty low backpressure.

edit: becarefull what kind of straight-through you get. some have a smooth inside, save for lots of holes punched in it. that's what you want. other's have ridges and **** sticking out, kills a little bit of noise, but causes too much unecessary back pressure
