Ok... its kinda pissing me off already, the muffler is constantly pooping all the time. The car runs good once i press the gas, at idle the air that goes through the muffler is not constant, its more intermittent. I did not pass inspection for the car so im worried. I have bought all the sensors and changed all filters and plugs and wires i just dont get it. Do you think its the catalytic? Its a high flow. I just dont get this problem anybody have this problem????

generally a hole/leak in the exhaust will cause popping on deceleration.

is it a back-fire/misfire pop, if so, then it is probobly timing like sxse said.

I have a similar problem with mine, when i'm decelerating and rpms drop below 2500 it pops. I know my problem is a lack of back pressure, i have header and 2 1/4 piping. Mine is not to bad, what rpm range does yours pop through?

i am going to check the timing this weekend i hope its just that.

do you guys really think because of the lack of back pressure it would pop? i have seen 240s with 3 inch piping and no cat that dont pop(really loud though).

how can i check for leaks i know i dont have broken piping thats for sure.

do you guys think if its the timing that thats why i didnt pass inspection?

Poping is just the combustion of unburnt fuel in your exhaust. Your car can be running a bit rich for a number of reasons. For some reason the KA is just prone to too much fuel upon deceleration. It happens to mine all the time.

Why did you fail inspection?

you probably failed inspection because you have header and high flow cat installed. I have hotshot header installed and failed in NC.

so i dont know why i didnt pass? all i know is that while it was running at the test it would bog a little but the rpms were fine. its just weird i hope its the timing, if the timing is advanced it will run rich right?

I dont think ignition timing has anything to do with how much fuel the injectors put in. Well, very little anyways. I can set off car alarms with the poping in my tailpipe, and I still passed emissions, barely.

You should probably find out why you didnt pass inspection so you can know exactly what to fix.
