Muffler law WTF!!`

i just had a muffler installed in my car today and it has a twin 4" tip and i got pulled over tonight saying modifying exhaust in mass is illegeal, why can places put them on cars but be illegeal. and i see a ton of cars with these huge *** coke cans on their cars that surely is illegeal then

same thing happened to me last week after i got my muffler put on. the cop said "I pulled you over because your muffler is too loud" even though my exhaust is just a little louder than stock. at that point I found myself thinking that if my exhaust is illegal, then modded Mustangs, Camaros, Vettes, and even motorcycles shouldnt be able to step foot on any public road or highway ever, because their exhaust systems are the ones that can rumble an entire city block!! i guess cops are just bored these days.

I don't think it actually has anything to do with how loud it is, just if it looks loud, i.e. big tip.

you dont need dual 4" tips... there are laws in illinois, but it ACTUALLY has to do with how loud it is, not with whether its stock or not... i wanted dual 2.5" tips initally and i have .4-.8 liters on ya, AND im boosted

The turbo actually makes the car quieter.

The law probably does have something to do with decibel limits. Strangely, motorcycles/choppers and "classics" (read - 25yr old +) aren't bound by any such restrictions.

i got pulled over with my old 240sx in dorchester about a week ago.

the state police said i was speeding, plate cover, cracked windsheld, no front plate and alt. exhuast. he only gave me a warning, and i just drive away.

i got pull over twice because of the apexi N1.the state wrote down chapter and section on it, i guess there is a law in Mass.

i have heard about people gettin pulled over for this but hasnt happend to me or any of my friends an one of them has a 500hp sti with a straight pipe sets off car alarms when he drives by
