Does anyone know where I can get an aftermarket muffler air diffuser for 2015 Nissan Rogue? Like, a NICE looking one. Not the stock one.

Only mine doesn't look as nice as that one in the picture. Mine looks like a piece of scrap metal someone found in uncle Bob's junk pile, and then just bolted on to the muffler, only kinda sideways. I cringe every time I see the back of my car. I don't know anything about cars, so if one from another model works, please let me know.

You do realize that's a stock photo of a new (basically un-driven) car, and there's no way (short of not driving) to keep it looking that pristine?

A quick internet search turned up nothing from 3rd party vendors, so you're stuck with OEM. If you're up to the task, you could re-chrome it. For $8.99 USD you can get a can of epoxy spray paint designed for very high temps. That's a whole lot cheaper than ordering a replacement for $50-$60.

I don't think you understand. I used that for reference for people who didn't know what I was talking about. That car has a completely different part attached to the muffler. My car (a 2015) has a strip of sheet metal hanging from the back end. It's never had chrome on it. It's literally sheet metal. Painting it will still look like sheet metal, with holes in it.

Nevermind- Here is MY car if that simplifies things Image

It looks to me like newer models have a completely different part. Am I able to fit a newer model air diffuser onto my 2015 Rogue?

If your ocd is that bad. I would just buy this and get a mechanic, welder, garage whatever to install it. Or find that piece somehow by any means.

And your right, that thing under your Rogue is ugly as hell. :poke:

Personally, money would be no object if it gets rid of something that visually bothers me everyday I look at it. I know how you feel.

Back in the day I reversed into a mailbox and slightly ruined my paint job. Not too bad but it bothered me.

So I had some half a** body shop paint it for a spot paint job for over $1,100-$1,300 or whatever. But I could see a damn borderline where old met new paint.

So my anal a** spent over $1,000 AGAIN at a Nissan dealership to do it right. I was pissed for a few weeks but no longer had too look at the messed up paint.

Now when I damage my paint job I strategically put stickers or design pinstripes to somehow make it look like I did it on purpose. :bowrofl:

As long as you’re happy in the end is all that matters.

You're right TippyTwo, you weren't clear about what your problem was. Well your part is somewhat unsightly, but is it $400 ugly?

We talking about the heat shield, right? Most vehicles don't have any issues with them from a functionality point, but I have had a couple that rusted away over time and eventually rattled like crazy at certain rpm's when one or more of the welds rusted away and made it quite loose. Bad enough to the point where I just cut the remaining welds off with my angle grinder and removed it entirely just so I could get rid of the annoying noise. But those were both over 10-15 years old by that point. Are you planning on keeping you Rogue that long? Will the transmission even last that long?

We have a 2015 Rogue as well and I understand wanting to keep it looking as close to new condition as possible. But this heat shield is definitely not on my list of concerns.

If anyone wonders about driving without the heat shield...I can't speak for the Rogue, but one of those two cars referenced earlier is still on the road today with no issues. 1999 Ford Escort SE 5-Speed. Passed it down to my wife's sister for a commuter college car about 7 years ago. Heat shield was removed around 2011 or 2012 if my memory serves.

Personally, who cares what this part looks like but the cheapest 'solution' is just remove it. Next cheapest (as previously mentioned) is to spray paint it with high temp black paint like you would get for a BBQ grill.

Either way, no one will care besides you, it won't affect trade-in or resale value one single penny, so do what you want with it to make yourself happy.

My OCD Is that bad. After doing an internet image search of the rear fascia of Nissan Rogues 2017-2019 all I see is nice looking air diffusers. And the internet does not like to show the back end of these cars apparently, so I got to see 2. I did a part check and they are universal for all years. They are all the same Part Number: 20080-4BA4A. About $63.77 or so. Why mine looks like a crackhead installed it, who knows, but I will get a new one, maybe paint it black (thanks Wolff). BTW, it not a heat exchange, that's a different part. Thanks for helping out a 51 yo single mom! I now know way more about the rear ends of Nissan Rogues than I ever wanted to. Maybe after I get it done, I post a new photo.

Well now I must admit you have me curious as I did not remember ever seeing anything quite like your photo. I've washed and sprayed out the undercarriage many times to remove mud and salt over the past 6 winters we have owned this car.

So I took a more critical look at the muffler area under my wife's Rogue...and yes, you are 100% correct what you are looking at is not the heat shield and more importantly it is NOT like what you have pictured there on your Rogue.

1. The part on our Rogue has those 3 holes facing down to the pavement. Not facing the rear. I do not understand how that happened on your Rogue without having the mounting tabs bent 90 degrees to accommodate installing it that way.
2. This part is black on our 2015 Rogue SL. A flat black finish I would call it. Not the unfinished silver sheet metal like your pic.

I thought about taking a picture, but in reality it looks nearly identical to the one in that stock photo of the silver rogue on your original post. Just a bit dirtier. (We live on a dirt road, it's winter, etc...)

Not sure what all that means other than to validate that you have something not "right" on your vehicle.

I would remove it, spray it black, and reinstall it in the correct orientation if that is possible. Not sure if that part on your car has been modified already to allow for it's current installation.

Did you buy this car used? Might it have possibly sustained some minor damage backing up into/over something that would have bent everything in that area of the car? And that would have been shadetree repaired by the previous owner? That could help explain what happened to yours.

If you would like a more detailed photo of our car to better understand what yours should look like, let me know.

It's messed up right? I did buy it used from a dealer here. They had two of them, and said they got both from auction at the same time. What's even weirder is that the other model (also a black 2015 SL) but with lower miles, had the same dang piece of metal hanging off the back end in the exact same fashion. I thought okay, I like this car, but they sure have a shockingly ugly part in the back. I asked the sales guy what it was, and he said it was a crash protector. :wtf2:

Anyway, thank you Lone Wolff for validating my sense of wrongness here. I still have no idea which way the part is intended to go, if its upside down or backwards, or what, but I'll let a mechanic deal with it.
