Hey all,I’m new here to the all the Nissan stuff.I’ve been doing a lot of reading up, but can’t find the answer to my main concern:what are the limitations on the manual transmission that came w/ the various engines?Namely the SR20DET and RB25DET

Well for starters, if you have a 240 its probably got a KA24DE not a SR20 or an RB26. so start there, but from what ive heard, the stock manual transmission can handle something outrageous like 450 HP... (correct me if im wrong) I dont know what the other trannys are limited to, but I would be the SR20's transmission is similar. Have no clue about the RB though

Not sure about the RB, but the SR20 and the CA18 have the same transmission, just a different bellhousing. Nissian used the transmission on several other cars also, so it may be the same on on the RB series. Not sure how much it can handle, but it can handle alot. Some people running 450+ on stock transmission (upgraded clutch).

A, kewl thxI know the trannies are diff, b/c people are running 600+ off the RB.Thought the SR20 was just over 400, just wasn’t too sure though.I want to push 500 off the SR20, but if the transmission can’t handle it, I’ll go w/ the RB25. Which is another class in SCCA and at which point you might as well go 700+

If you are going to plan to push that much HP through the transmission, its going to cost major $$$, so while your at it, why dont you have someone beef up the transmission for you? Dont know exactly what could be done to help, but im sure someone else knows as its all been done before....
