I just came across a thread where some one mentioned a manual transmission harness but have not seen mention of it in any of the how-to threads, searched it and saw several people "WTB: a lower manual harness", but haven't found out what its for or if its a major part of the swap, do I need it? I haven’t even found a pic of what it looks like so wouldn't know what to pull from the salvage yard.

i have one if you need it. its a couple wires together with 3 pig tails on one side and the other side goes to the fuse box, alternator and engine. and yes you do need it for a swap

i really dont think you even really need a manual harness. if you dont hook up the 4th and 5th gear speed sensors, then you will have no speed limiter. Your speedo will run fine. A lot of people do this mod now. If you can do without backup lights like i have for 3 years.. then you dont need that switch. the only think im unsure of actually being required is the neutral position switch.. but if you use an auto trans ecu.. i dont think it uses that sensor anyway. So.. yah, just my .02. And someone correct me if I'm wrong please, as I'm kinda in the same boat.

the only sensor you will need to hook up is the very last one by the drive shaft. that is your speed sensor. if you want to eliminate your speed limitor then you need to cut the yellow wire with a green stripe, at your ecu. we dont have inspection where I live, so I wouldn't know.

You can hardwire your reverse and neutral switches right to your ECU... you can find this online ka24development.com or something like that

Great link there, first one I've seen that has even mentioned anything about bolt sizes (these just so happen to be the only bolts left to find)

Actually on the wiring section it states "NOTE: THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION I USED IN THE CONVERSION HAD THE M/T FACTORY HARNESS CONNECTED TO IT. ALL REFERENCES TO CONNECTING WIRES ARE MADE IN REGARDS TO USING FACTORY WIRING HARNESS CONNECTORS."... I think this is where I started researching the necessity of a manual trans harness.

I cant find a break down, so please correct me if I'm wrong, Speed and reverse sensors will have (I want) to be connected (I’m assuming the auto harness will not allow direct connect here, can I splice into to auto harness or is tapping the ecu the only option?) 4th and 5th gear sensors are not needed, neutral sensor (was figuring this could get jumpered/shorted out somewhere around some fuse box, would think its only used to disable the car from being cranked while in gear?). Please chime in and tell me what worked for you.
