MSD ignition coils confusion.

So does ANYONE here have any concrete answers about the MSD blaster 2 coil?such as, do you in fact need the resistor? ive heard 50% of people say they do need it, the other half say they dont. and also do you need the tach adapter? if anyone actually has one of these installed it would be greatly appreciated if you could just answer those two questions it would be greatly appreciated.
