ok so i am now one step closer to fully compiling all the parts for the summer turbo project. much thanks to the mods and helpful peeps in the turbo section for helping me decide which ignition system to get.

so i just won an auction for the msd 6 btm and my first question is if i can just put it on now without the turbo, or just bide my time? obviously the fuel would burn more efficiently since there is more spark, but could it also be bad? next thing is the neat little boost retard timing switch. any comments or opinions on it?

You can hook it up. It's not going to retard your timing if there's no boost, so there's nothing to worry about.

How do they sense boost? like a map sensor on the intake or what?

(noob to MSD's, need to learn lot about them)

thats great if possible find or make a full pic install. That would make the 240 world a better place.

dareo, The BTM simply senses boost via air vacuum(unsure of the best place to tap off of tho). I don't know the details, but I imagine it's a diaphram sensor of some sorts. - deflects with changes in pressure.
