Ok, i probably have asked this b4 but all i have left w/ my turbo setup is to install the msd btm that i got to retard timing. the instructions suck and i cant figure out how to wire it up. i was wondering if anyone here has installed this. its 4 wires, but i dont know where they go. please help, this is all i have left to do. i bought this thing thinking it would be easy to install, but apparently nobody has installed this thing because ive been asking everywhere. i thought a lot of people had this thing. thanks.

I installed mine today along with my knock alert- very simple hookup- though i recommend solder and heatshrink over the crimp connections they give you. I had no idea what to do with the very vague instructions they gave me...actually my instructions were for a different part number entirely and none of the pics looked like mine....so i called the MSD tech line. It was long distance, but the guy had me going in like 3 min. I left the wire colors in my 240...but i'll get them tomorrow morning if i can before work. But as i remember it...black is ground (duh), white goes from neg wire from coil into msd, orange goes from msd to negative side of coil, and red goes to pos coil wire. The coil wire colors and polarities for my 92 were black/red for pos, and green/? for neg, but you can check this with a test light, by pulling the harness off the coil, turning the key on, and probing the two wires with a test light.

The Knock Alert (if anyone cares) was a really easy install- there is a drain plug on the side of the engine block (14mm bolt looking thing) just under the exh manifold and above the motor mount bracket. This hole is 1/4 npt as is the sensor that they give you- run the wire inside to the display, give it power, and done.

I'll take pics of both these installed and post them up, but i need batteries for my digital cam.

edit: here is a link to an install of a btm among other things on a supergharged civic. There is a nice pic- if you can ignore the fact that the distributor in the pic is a civic. The only real difference is the color of the car's coil wires, other wise it is identical to the install on a 240.

Page 11 is pic, text above, but kinda useless.

i just installed mine too, however the white wire from the btm had to go to the inside of the distributor and one of the connectors had to be removed on the inside of the distributor. maybe my 96 is different than yours is though.

the obd2 dist is different than older 240's with obd1.

The diagram for installing msd on a 240 with internal coil is posted in the JWT tech page.

Here is the link dist. modification for installing msd

yea thats for the whole ignition though, however it does still help in installing the btm. i used that along w/ the one that shows how to covert from an internal coil to external on the jwt site.
