Does anyone have solid info about msd btm install??i went to the MSD website and pulled up install for the 5462 universal app. one, but i see that there are different install diagrams..

i.e. figure 3 = wiring to a breaker points ignition, or,

figure 4 = wiring to a magnetic pickup....

which one is for our motor/car/distributor???

i saw the write-ups from JWT.. but is it this one? :

If you have a s13 than you should have an external coil which means you do not follow the instructions of the link you've posted. Thats for a 95+ 240sx. zerothread?id=129602 please check out this link because I had installing issues and with the help of my post I found out how to do it.

good luck

oohi thought i had to tear the distributor out and stuff..lolyay.. i can run the msd btm with 0 correction with everything hooked up without boost, right?

i wanted to hook up every minor pieces like safc2, btm, fuel pump, 550cc, etc. so i can just bolt on the mani+dp+turbo+lines and be out to turbo/tuning it right away..

lmk :D550cc controlled by safc2.. sounds a bit much on a ka.. but wat the hey.. thats what i got the btm ^^;

yes you can leave the BTM at 0 degrees retard per psi until you are ready to boost. However, I reccomend you first check if you installed it right and if it's working in the first place.

If you have an air compressor then this is how you test if it works: Install the BTM, hook up a air compressor to the BTM vacuum port where you will hook up a vacuum hose in the future. Set the BTM to 3 degrees retard per psi and shoot in like 8psi of pressure. This will result in a retardation of 24 degrees at IDLE which will leave you with -4degrees give or take (considering your base timing is 20degrees). Regardless, you're idle should either die or run like crap.

If anyone has any other way of testing to check if the BTM is working please post it.

SAFC + 550cc + BTM will be fine as long as you have a wideband 02 sensor and everything is running like it's suppose to. Then maybe you can install a alcohol injection kit, turn the BTM to 0 degrees and run some more boost whenever someone tries to pick on you

Hey man, are you gonna install a wideband prior to boosting too?

Im doing the same thing as you (installing everything I can prior to boost) but I want to be able to drive the car around too.

Oh, that stuff I listed was electrical stuff...lol. I, too, have a fair share of stuff to do also (mechanical):- Walbro 255- Injectors (maybe...if my friend doing his FC swap sells me his before I get the turbo/mani)- Valve seals (dont know how Im gonna be able to this)- Timing chain (contemplating on just paying someone to do it)- Fill-in spare engine mounts with urethane- Hayden or B&M trans cooler (maybe pre-install)

I also lack the time/space to do stuff in...on top of just getting a 2nd job

EDIT: Also, you might as well get a N60 MAFs. I just got one on ebay for $37 shipped.
