Excluding price, and focusing on ride.

Going through the good old search button, i found a few reviews for both.

So far the most popular setup for springs and struts that i've seen is KYB struts with the pro-kit springs.

But as far as megan goes, they're an ebay company. It makes me nervous. I've read good and bad about their products. But 860 something for a set of coilovers are a hard to pass type of thing. Unless they're crap quality of course.

Anywho, any input would be appreciated.

For a couple hundred bucks more, you can get SPL KTS coilovers. Everyone who has them loves them.

well, if you drift or auto x aggresively and frequently and want to feel every little bumb in the road, then go for coilovers. But, if you want a semi-nice ride with improved handleing for the occasional driftt/ autox, then a strut/spring combo is better... its all up to You

it'll be hard to service megan and parts don't seem available for a couple hundred more i'd rather get spl. i dont like em but for the money its decent but bad thing is the servicing.

kyb and eibach pro would be okay if you're not wanting to lower really heavily.

Well, lowering is not a big concern, i'm mainly into handling. I haven't started into Auto-x just yet, but yeah that's what i'd like to do. With of course a little drifting on a side. for god sakes i bought a 240 lol. Thanks for the input guys, i was expect some heavy flameing, wasn't sure if this was a common question. I just couldn't find a whole load of topics on google and here. Had to ask ya' know.

So far i see some good hits for spl. Haven't heard much about them, so time to do some digging. Thanks again!

If it were up to me, I'd get a good spring strut combo, I've heard bad things about not only the quality of Megan Racing coilovers but also generally how long they last.

i baught kyb agx and eibach sportlines.... i have had them on for about 2 months... i am definnatley glad i went that route instead of coilovers for the time being, its my daily driver, and these seem to be perfect for the road around where i live, i wont get coilovers until this is a track/weekend car only

I used to own MR coilovers on my old 240, i just bought another one and i'm getting them again. They are awesome. And notice I didn't say "awesome for the price". I have two friends with the KTS/SPL coilovers which cost around $1100. One said he can't feel the difference, the other talk **** cuz he's a hater but then admits that MR coilovers are a really good set up. For those who had Dampening problems probably didn't know how to adjust them right, or couldn't get used to the 32 levels. Spring shock combo is good if you don't plan on getting too serious. Now b4 you guys start getting "fresh" with me by saying that, its just the flat out truth. I had kyb/s-tech combo and it just wasn't enuff. I had to get coilovers becuase i got serious w/ my car. But if you dont' plan on drifting, spring/shock is ok cuz it maintains ride comfort, but lacks performance. For people saying the quality of the Megans isn't that great is sayin that Apex'i isnt aswell. Why? cuz they come from the same place. All Megan really does is get a great coilover and re-badges it as their own. kinda sounds bad but when you get ur MR coils the paper work says "V-H Designe" which is a $2000 coilover. So the quality is there minus the name brand price.

Apexi outscources their lowest end coilovers (Apex'i World Sport Damper) to the same taiwanese company that makes the MR coilovers, But guess what, theyre about 1100 dollars anyways, about the same price as the Megan, not 2k.

But again, I have had no experience with either company, my suggestion is still the shock/spring combo.

as far as I see it, it depends on the type of roads you're going to be driving on in your town. if they state keeps up the roads, get the coilovers. paying an extra $200-300 for coilovers will be well worth it if you're into more intense driving.. I have KYB/Stech combo, and it's nice for driving around and such, but it's not enough either. I need a harder spring, more dampening, and be able to adjust my ride height accordingly depending on what i'm doing. and for $800 for megan vs. 1100 for apexi it's worth it if that's what you want... although, I'm probably going with KTS coils, because you can rebuild them all for only $550... which is nice. Megan doesn't offer that, but I don't know how long they last, I haven't seen anyone have problems with them yet, but then again, they've only been out for around a year.

Well after researching, I've defantly fell in love the the KTS coils. Especially to the fact I can get them for 750 shipped. Hellz yea. I live in the baltimore area. roads are great. I'll just never venture into DC for ANY reason. My God. Even with OEM (ruined, shot, junk) shocks/springs it's a nightmare.

The figure i got for AGX/KYB struts with a set of prokit totaled like 600 with tax and shipping. 150 more gets me a good set of coil overs, im jumping on it like stink on err poop.. (sugar honey ice tea?)

I'll take some pictures of them and the setup once they come in, order is being placed tonight 10/18.. Ohhh baby.

Time to throw my rear sidways and avoid all trees.

seriously! I'd get them for that price.

And yes, KTS has a better "health plan". Also on the front MR coils the dampener is on the top, the KTS is on the bottom. Not much but its funny watching my friend have to get dirty just to stiffin or soften his. Somethin else to keep in mind.

Don't get coilovers if you care about ride quality, btw.

Check the Autox/Road-racing forum...I own KTS and they are good, but I think that they are slightly to stiff for even good roads. IF I were doing it again I would go for some good springs and matched shocks and a set of sways, because coilover spring rates are just too high for grip in your standard street situation.

you sure it wasn't Ksport? zerothread?id=132661

If so, Those aren't SPL/KTS coilovers.

Indeed... Big difference between the Ksports and KTS coilovers. I would buy the KTS right now, if they were selling for around $700. I have been saving up, for the last month, to buy the SPL KTS coilovers ($1100, roughly). Can anyone confirm or deny this? Links would be helpful.
