I am kind of wondering what sort of MPG people are getting out of their Versas. We have a SL with CVT and seem to be doing pretty crappy on the mileage. I would say that we are averaging only about 29 MPG with a combo of highway and city driving. The third tank of gas put in (89octane) did about 260 highway miles and 60 city miles before the low fuel light came on. I would say that part of the problem is in my city driving as I work only about 2.5 miles from my house and the cold engine light seems to kick off when i'm about 3/4 of the way there. Could it be that this almost worst case driving scenario is contributing to the poor mileage or what? I bet if I did nothing but city driving I would only be getting about 26 mpg.

Anyway, I'm trying to track this stuff and keep an eye on it. The car only has 1100 miles on it so far and I suspect that the fuel economy will improve as it settles in a bit, but at the moment i'm kind of concerned that something is up with the engine. Thoughts?

There has been some disappointment expressed here on the milage of the CVT. EV has a tread going on a getting some real numbers with an excel spreadsheet. This should be interesting as some result should be coming in. New cars are a little lower in milage during break in, then add winter, and if you have to sufffer the farce of ethenol, you are doomed.I'll keep track until after the first oil change and see how it pans out.

yeah, i just discovered the "real world mpg" thread. so, i'll take my case there instead. any chance that that one could end up as a sticky? seems relevant enough to always have around.

There already is a sticky, EV's Fuel Economy Thread. Shortly that one will be replaced with another sticky called EV's Preliminary MPG Data Thread.
