I have a 98 SE, 96k smooth and quiet engine. I haven't been getting great city MPG, no better than 15. I have tried to accel slowly and keep the RPMs at approx 2k when cruising. Sombody told me it could be an O2 sensor. Any ideas?ThanksBill

Sorry about your MPG issue, it is possible that you have bad plugs, clogged air filter, and possible other factors, ie: o2 sensor.

It is located in the exhaust near cat. pretty cheap to fix.

Any update on the status? Any improvements? I get better mpg in my G, and close to 40mpg in the altima with HWY driving.

mine right now is getting 23 roughly and i think it's because the timing is off. what rpm are you at when you are cruising at 80mph?

does your car accelerate smoothly or is it slow?

When I'm going 40 mph (cruising) it drops into overdrive and the RPM's drop to 1500. Picture shifting a 5 speed into 5th gear too early. It feels bogged down. I had a guy check out the O2 sensor and found one to be burning too much gas. He wasn't able to hook it back up to computer to see if it did the trick (Because I had to go to work). If my timimg is off, is it an easy fix?

I'll let you know about my rpm's @80mph
