So last time I filled my tank I decided to change my driving habits a bit to see what it would do to my gas mileage.

So, I stopped doing jackrabbit starts, going as slow as I can till I hit 2k rpm, and then just stay there till i get to the speed I want. I hardly ever let it get to 3000k and if I did it wasn't for long. Average speed is about 60ish except when I had to pass someone.

It's ~66 miles total to get from home to school and back again in rather rolling hills terrain.

So, I ended up getting just over 30mpg (as in 30.065mpg). When normally I get somewhere between 25 & 29. So I'm happy.

As for the versas versas everywhere, I've seen SO many Versas the past few days it's crazy. There are probably 3 or 4 on campus now, I pass 2 different ones on the way to class everyday, and I see 2 different ones @ work all the time. AND I saw a new sedan today.

That is weird, since I'm over 3k rpms through all 6 gears usually and 100 miles a day, 75-80 mph (3600 rpms at cruising). And getting 32+ mpg.

Well you've finally explained the KC5F mystery. It's something in the air in NC.

I usually constantly cruise between 2750 and 3000, almost never shift above 3000, and have lots of... well, not so rolling hills. Last 5 tanks have all been below 31 mpg.

And I didn't have a good start to my tank today. I managed to find a hill STEEPER than James St (grade wasn't marked, but by comparison James is an 18% grade)... and myself and a bunch of other manual transmissions got stuck at a red light. When the light turned red, the SRT4 got going easily, the Jeep stalled, and I nearly stalled and came close to rolling back into another Jeep behind me. Sadly, I overreacted and made the Versa peel for literally 100 feet before the traction caught up. That's going to hurt my mileage. And my tires.

But as much as I hate to do that to my car, the looks on everyones' faces around me at the smoke billowing from this little hatchback's tires was priceless...
