Mine is a 2011 M56x. Yup, the DVD won't play a video disc if the car isn't parked. But my DVD is not a video disc. The car does indeed play a DVD disc that contains nothing but MP3/M4A audio files, without any such restrictions and even while travelling at any road speeds. The HU top line still says "DVD" mode, but it plays music just as if it was a giant CDROM because there's no video on it. I burned nothing but music audio (MP3, M4A) files onto the dual-layer DVD disc, and I didn't bother to create any folders on the disc, just put all music files into the root folder. I shortened a few long filenames, but that was it. A store-bought DVD has both a video transport stream and an audio transport stream. It seems that the absence of those transport streams make an audio-only DVD disc work exactly like a big MP3 CD. Yay!
