I have an '03 Pathfinder and am wondering if anyone knows of a way to wire in an MP3 input to the stock stereo (some kind of aux as a radio station maybe?)

I'd like to have it in place for when the iPhone TomTom system comes out.

if your on a budget or not wire savvy...go with a tape to headset jack converter...you can find them at dollar stores

You offered me an FM transmitter and suggested a tape deck converter? (and on top of that suggested I couldn't swap a couple wires). If I'm willing to spend the time looking into forums and asking the question I'm pretty sure I want something better than those half assed solutions.

Thanks KyooX4, I had just come across that, seems like the perfect solution.

LOL so sorry man, but i assumed you wouldnt want to spend much so thats the best method aside from the $100 solution. I didnt mean to offend you or anything.

No biggy man, I've just seen the time and effort you put into your truck and wouldn't expect you to half a** it like that hehe.

I did have a Monster FM transmitter that did the job for a while (surprisingly good sound quality) but I need a direct line for my next setup as I'm switching over to the new iPhone TomTom navigation this summer and will need the bottom jack for power/window mount.

yeah your only choice is that adapter then most likely. ive been looking for sme sort of connection like this for my parents' Land Rover, and so far all I can find are special connectors that plug your ipod into the cd changer port under the passenger seat, my 99 has an external CD changer port, but i think yours had the in-dash 6cd option. but if it doesnt, maybe look into that, although the connector will probably be more expensive since you wouldnt need to get to the back of your OEM HU

Either that or a new head unit. If I'm spending that much money, I'd just rather get a whole new deck with an aux input built in.

Yeah, I'm probably due for a new unit anyways... the 2 button just broke off my radio. That s***'s supposed to happen in a Dodge, not a damn Nissan.

Alright, change in question, what (reasonably priced) head units would you guys recommend. I'm not an audiophile or a "stereo guy" so I just need something reliable with decent sound that will tune the radio well and I can plug my iPhone into. I don't give a s*** if it has a CD player or not, as I don't use the 6 changer I have.

And Qxxx4, I KNOW you'll recommend the same Pioneer you got, that's up on the list for me for sure, but a little more than I'm looking to spend (I'll break down and buy it anyways I'm sure). If anyone has some iPhone 3G friendly options for units out there let me know.

You didnt mention a budget at all so why get pissed when cheaper solutions were offerred? How about we get pissed because you didnt put in the 6 seconds of effort to do your own search?

Heres a little help for you for next time. Just so you learn

Was that so hard?

I lol'd, I to have a pioneer premier deck (there top line) and its a GREAT deck, but if you do a search, pioneers are NOTORIOUS for blown pico fuses and rca outputs failing. (ive had both happen to me on this deck, but got them repaired)

I'm not going to get in an argument over this or click your lmgtfy link (truly original, try Tiny URLing it first if you're gonna attempt be a d!ck).

I asked a specific question about wiring into my system and you gave a half assed answer instead of the insightful feedback that people come here for. People don't come here for s*** advice or arguments, they come here to learn how to better their Nissan/Infinity (be honest here man, a tape deck adapter was a s***ty response and you knew you were giving one).

I know how to Google, but why not get advice from people who have been down the road before and found the right solution (or learned the hard way from the wrong).

Sorry to blow off steam here but I see this so much, if you don't want to help someone out, keep your s***ty attitude to yourself.

Alright, I'm the ***hole of the day... not paying enough attention and asking questions before properly researching, apologies to all. I'm damn glad it's Friday tomorrow.

Sony. Not popular for the sound quality but the best if you know what you're doing.
