Has anyone burned CDs of MP3s for the Coupe? I am burning "data" disks, not "audio" discs", and am missing songs during playback in the car. I originally thought it was an issue with the length of the MP3 filename, but after shortening the long ones, I am still missing songs. Also, my folder button and track button on the touch screen are not lite. The scan dial works to advance folders, but the buttons are dimmed.

Has anyone seen this problem?? Do the CDs need to be written to a particular format or length?

I've never had a problem and I just burned a new Disturbed CD with five folders in it containing the MP3s. What program are you using to burn the CDs?

what bitrate are you using? if it's too high it may not work. Also were you adding more songs to an existing disc? if you do you have to import the previous session otherwise you'd replace it

I purposely created single session CDs. My old computer died and I never transfer my Nero license to the new one. I am using a shareware program called DeepBurner. It has as many features as Nero, but is free. I also tried lowering the speed down to 24x this morning to see if that was an issue.

Do you have functioning Folder and Track buttons on your touch screen?? Mine are dimmed which also sounds like it is have an issue processing the CD, which could also explain the missing songs.

Are you writing the CDs as data or audio??

I also use Godfather to fix the internal data tagging of the MP3s. Never had an issue with them otherwise. Works on both MP3 players and burns to audio CDs. Maybe it is an issue with DeepBurner since my older CDs were burned using Nero.

Bad burning software! I re-burned the same MP3s on a different computer using Sonic and they play properly on the Altima. All songs appear with full functionality. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, I need to contact Nero and recover that license. Rather spend money on the car than the computer right now.

I use nero for my mp3 and it works fine for my 2008...

Make sure you are not driving your car and the lites for the folder and track will light up.

When you are at a stand still at a light or something they light up, when you move they go dim and you can only change the folder by using the dial and the song by the up or down button the nav or the steering wheel...same concept as not being able to enter an address on the navi when moving

hope that helps

It may not be bad burning software, or the bit rate of your songs... the problem may be that you have a mix of .mp3 files, .wma files, etc. I used to have this problem long ago, and couldn't figure out why I couldn;t find whole albums on my disc I burned. Turns out, if you plug a cd into windows media player, and you rip the cd, you have to make sure it rips them in .MP3 format... if it rips it in .WMA format, while it may play just fine on your computer, IPOD, or ZUNE... it WILL NOT play on your car's MP3 player.

Burning software like Nero DOES NOT convert the songs into .MP3 format when you burn the disc in data form! When you transfer files to you ZUNE or your IPOD, the IPOD actually decodes the file and turns it into an IPOD readable format!

So go back, check the actually file names and make sure they are .MP3 extensions. If they aren't, then that's your problem.

Thanks for pointing that out. I created my first "coaster" by picking an audio CD instead of data CD.

All the files were previously prepped for my Sansa and I only store them as MP3s with full tagging. So that was not the issue.

Now the fact that the buttons DIM when you are moving...that's NEWS. How silly is that?? So Nissan thinks it is less distracting to reach across the dash to play with a little dial than hit a couple of big buttons...hmmm
