Ok, I followed the instructions, and I can't seem to get the mp3 player to work through the audio jack. With one player, I hear a lot of audio noise, like krrrrrrrhhhh, but not what's on the player. Tried another player, and it didn't work at all.

Does anyone know how - step-by-step - to get an mp3 player to work in the radio system? Yeah, I have the tech package audio system. I know it's probably some easy thing to do, but so far I 've had no luck at all.

are you using the earjack cord? Hit the AUX button right above where it plugs in and turn the volume up (unless you have a line out, if all you have is an earphone jack on your player, you need to use the amp on the player either at 3/4 or full depending on the sound quality)

anything other than that, I'm gonna need more info.

Also make sure you are using a stereo cable (not a mono) and that it is completely clicked in on both ends. I got this noise once when I didn't push the cable securely enough into the aux port on the head unit.

I tried using the connector cord that came with the mp3 player. It has a tiny computer usb type end and one that plugs into the aux player port. We tried this with 2 players, one got the noise, and the other got nothing. I checked the instructions and the book said the radio plays any analogue file. So does this mean that digital files won't work?

I have some time this weekend, so I guess I will make myself comfortable and keep trying.

I am not aware of a USB to 8th in jack working on these types of players... Use an 8th inch to 8th inch cord, like a headphone extender cable with the prong at both ends.

That should fix it.

The only cables that will work that have the "usb" type connection are proprietory connectors like the ipod or the sansa have. If it is a connection similar to what digital cameras use then it will not work. What mp3 player are you connecting? If you have the stereo cable that has the headphone type plug at both ends, have them pushed in properly, have pushed the AUX button, and have turned up the volume on the mp3 player then it should work.

Thanks for suggestions. I've been using the connector that came with the mp3 player (LG). It uses the mini usb cable with a headphone type jack at the other end.

I guess I will head off to Futureshop and buy a different connector.

I'm going to get this sucker to work come h*ll or high water.

I bought a double ended connector thingy, but it was the day I was roaring around like a mad thing trying to get out the door to the airport. I haven't had a chance to try it out, and now I'm out of the country.

Thanks for asking. As soon as I get back, I'm going to give it a try. I really appreciate all the support from Versa owners.

Finally got it to work!. Bought a cable at the dollar store and now I have success. The V goes on its first road trip tomorrow & I'm looking forward to listening to all the junk I"ve downloaded from the library.

Thanks all for your suggestions.

I too also bought the 8th - 8th cable at the dollar store but I am having trouble getting my blackberry to work with it. I have a 8th to 2.5 adapter so to fit into the headphone port on my blackberry but the d@mn blackberry still plays out of it's onboard speaker. Until I get a regular mp3 or cd player, I'll never know if it's gonna work for me.

superphones usually have a three ring adapter so when I used the converter with my Sidekick I've got to position it really weird (you can't just seat it flush because the rings don't line up)

try messing with it and see if it helps to position it differently.

I'm waiting on a new Mp3 player to arrive tomorrow. If it doesn't work, I'm going to return the mp3 player just for that reason. No sense in having that port if nothing seems to work on it.
