Hey peeps, my fiance and I going to be moving to Portland soon and was wondering what area is a good part to live in? I've heard that it's good to work in Portland and live in Vancouver, Wa..... is there any truth in that? I was out there about month ago and LOVED it! Also, how are nthe speed shops out there? We also have a 4 year old son, so we are looking for a good school for him. My fiance is a Photographer and I work on imports... what does the market look like out there in those areas?

I wasnt to know the good and bad about the sounding area, so we'll havwe an idea about what we're getting into before we get out there...

Any input on the area will be greatly appreciated.

Speed shops are there, and up towards Tacoma too. The business is noet as good as California, since the weather is crappy, 8 months of the year. There is no state income tax in Wa. There is in Oregon. There is no state sales tax in Oregon, there is in Wa. Beware, the WSP (washington State Patrol) are the most retarded cops you'll ever meet. I have been ticketed for 65 in a 60 on I-5 and 60 in a 55 on a local highway. Be carefull, and buy a good radar detector (Escort or Valentine 1). Don't go cheap on the detector, it WILL save you some $$$. Schools, I don't know about, my stepkids have grown and moved out. 10 years ago, they were pretty good from what they say. Oh, at the start of October, I'll be throwing another Nissan meet. I did this last year with a turn out of about 45-50 cars. It will be in Olympia, probably at Bruce Titus Nissan again. They catered and gave up their lot for the day, said they wanted to do it again.

We've been doing some looking around and we are thinking about the southeast part of portland... What do you think about that part?

most of Portland and the surrounding areas have decent houses and schools. parts of North Portland arent so great, but SE is ok as far as I know.
