Has anyone moved the VDC switch from the left side of the steering wheel to one of the empty slots in the center console next to the snow and ac/heat for seats? Doing some work next weekend and was just curious if anyone has extended the wires. I would think it is a simple as extending the wires on the back of the switch. Let me know. Thanks.

If no one has experience I may make a DIY if others are interested. No reason for the mod other than having it closer.

I agree, it 'should' be a simple move and will be one less 'placeholder' on your console which is a great idea. However, we have Inifiti's and I capital L mine, but after you have a look under the dash at how they mounted the switch you may find it's connected to other things, or part of a huge module that also runs god-knows-wot, LOL. I don't have an X model (in Florida, all wheel drive is not necessary) so I only have the seat ventilation controls on my console.

We shall see. I will look at it. Ill take some pictures of what I find and if I do it. Got a lot to do that weekend... Dipping my wheels with the Anthracite Plasti Dip, black headlight housing, grounding kit, and maybe OEM spoiler/Rotors and pads/plenum spacer... cant decide on the last three. and NO all there is not an option.

Anthracite PlastiDip is brilliant on wheels! Fonzie from DipYourCar has used it on wheels and even an entire car and it looks fab. So does GunMetal. Please post pics after you do that as well.

That's what got me to buy it from dipyourcar. They dip some sweet cars. My M is Umbria Gray so I'm hoping it will look good.

Don't do the dip. The umbra grey is basically beige. I tried black rims. Not nice.

The switch relocation should be easy to do provided the switch brackets are the same between the two locations. I thought about it for a while but didn't because how often do you turn off vsd or afs to justify soldering longer wires and potentially causing a short down the road. Post up pics of the two switched when you're done. I may reconsider.

Eh a little late, material will be here tomorrow. It was only $42 to get it shipped here, so if I don't like it I will just peel it. I believe it will be noticeably different than black so it wont look too bad I don't think. I did a Photoshop of what it may look like and it looks pretty good to me. Now we will have to see in real life. Thanks for the heads up though. As for the switch, I don't use it THAT often but I cant leave anything alone. I solder wire together at my job all the time so I feel comfortable it wont have a short. I will get some pics. Plan on the 21st of this month to do it all.

Here is the Photoshop I did with the darker wheels, bigger wheels, blacked out grill, and sport style headlights. I think it looks ok... Once I actually get it on there it may be a different story.

Hey wait. Are you sure your car is Umbra Grey? I've got that same colour code but it looks more beige than grey! Maybe it was repainted (I mean mine)?!

Color code C31. is yours the sandstone color? There is another M35 at my apartment complex that is a brownish/sand/beige color.

I stand corrected... this whole time (bought the car in June) I thought I was C31 (Umbria Gray) when really I am WV2 (Diamond Graphite). Hmmm... good thing I didnt order that OEM spolier. Good call MSVARA. Guess that proves I should never trust the dealers to get the color right. :nono:

You may want to consider adding 2 coats of glossifier after the wheels dry. It keeps the colour from looking 'flat'.

Were you able to do the grounding kit? Notice any difference? Do you mind posting a how to pics or video?
