I've got a 89 240sx hatch stock ka motor and I want to move the battery to the driver's side and the air filter to the passenger side. I've got my longer Positive cable but I'm not sure if it's right I basically ran the cable from the new battery placement to where the old spot was and connected it right to the old terminal. The ground cable I'm going to ground to the frame and then the block same as before just on the other side. I want to clean up the engine bay, I moved the charcol canister to where the cruise control crap used to be, move the AIV?(hose coming from exaust and then going to the airbox) To inside the left fender. Anyone have a pic of an AIV so I know what it looks like? I'm gonna move the washer fluid thing somewhere but don't know where yet. I would also like to install an electric fan.....I wire that to the fuel pump relay right? or just a toggle switch. I also removed the A/C.

Yeah I got a 90 and for the KA24E this seems logical.

BTW I know the AIV is that black box next to the exhaust manifold with a hose running to the intake box.

Ok, I thought about this before and the approach I was going to use was to move the battery to the trunk. That should be a relatively easy approach, just running two thick wires through the cabin. Next chuck the black plastic intake piping and the stock air box. Run piping from the intake rubber piece (with the two small hoses running from it, before the throttle body) to an air filter that you can put where the window washer fluid reservoir is behind the bumper. (cold air). To do this you need to drill a big *** hole where the battery was, and I believe two 45 degree angeled piping pieces, one making a left (toward the battery area) and one going down (through the hole you made).

Add the MAF to the airfilter utilizing the stock velocity stack (get the right airfilter), throw the air temp sensor in there somewhere and that should be it.

if you put the battery in the trunk, use a heavy gauge wire [at least 2 ga.] for positive, and ground the battery to the chassis.

DO NOT run the negative cable from the battery back to the engine bay!!

No don't wire it to the fuel pump relay. An electric fan draws alot of current. To wire up an electric fan you are going to need to have it's own relay set up for it. Either something that opens the coil for a certain temperature or at ignition or whatever you wish.

I also just relocate the battery to the trunk. That will clean it up lots.

i installed elec fans not long ago. just find a switched power source to power a relay and install an adjustable thermostat (to vary when the fan comes on). or hard wire a line to the battery and put a switch in the cabin for it. \

relocating the battery..... my preference would be the trunk, but anyway. sounds like you got a good plan to keep it in the engine bay. just make sure all your connections are solid. if you put it in the trunk you only need one line (+) to go back to the engine. and you can run the lines underneath with the fuel/brake lines on the passenger side.

unless you really want to keep em you could ditch the charcoal can and the aiv. the aiv removal is around here somewhere and the charcoal is the same way. just plug up the unused vaccum lines and you set.
