....i.e. up North!

However, if I live in the city I may have to sell my Versa... I already checked and I could break $1,000 over what I paid ($2000 under invoice!), but I love my little car!

Now comes the big question:

To Versa or not to Versa?

Remember: I'm living either in Washington D.C. or New York City.

You know, in some parts of the world, people don't even get to own Versas, you should be thankful for what you've got ;oD

j/k

I don't see why moving to the city would make you sell... yeah, you may be able to walk/bike/public transit, but surely you'll still need to roadtrip or purchase large things, right?

That depends on which city.

Keep it if you're going to DC... but if you're going to live IN NYC... probably best to sell it.

For those who don't know, NYC has both ridiculous traffic and ridiculous parking. There are places in NYC where the cost to rent a parking space is more than the cost to rent an apartment in Seattle. And Seattle ain't cheap.

The Versa is a perfect commuter car in cities like the Big Apple, and I smile at the gas station folks everytime I refill the tank and driving alongside those hybrid like Toyota Prius costing thousands more.

The V has passed its break-in period and now averaging around 24 MPG in mixed city/hwy commuting mode vs. 19 MPG with my 2004 Honda CRV EX in AWD, air conditioning on - best highway 35 MPG vs. 28 for the CRV. It's easy to park, virtually any parking space will fit (hatchback is 12" shorter than the CRV) and I can squeeze thru almost all doubled parked cars on side streets. In dollar terms, I'm spending about $35 a week in gas vs. $55 to $60 a week as I put in 350+ miles a week commuting and weekend.

I was seriously looking at the Honda Civic LX with its $19,000+ OTD price tag similiarly equipped, the only item that I've wished for with the S trim is the cruise control. The lower APR that I got in financing plus total cash costs is paying for my insurance on the Nissan as a 2nd (but driven as a primary vehicle) car for the next 5 years. It's a truely win-win situation, and if gas price head toward the $3.50 or $4.00 mark, we as Versa owners will be laughing all the way to and from the bank.

In short, Versa it !!!!

P.S. Mass transit isn't an option for me as it would be a 4 hour daily commute between work & home whereas driving trim it down to 1.5 or 2 hours at most, and I'm a First Responder on call 24/7 with loaded gears. And, yes, I have a 26" bike that I ride around too - when appropriate.

You lucky bastard, I wish I could move back to NY.

Anyway, my friend lives in the city, he's 23 and hasn't even gotten his license yet. Depending on where you are going to live and where you're going to work I'd sell it if you can make it on the subway.

After much deliberation, I've decided to rent the car out to a friend of mine in Maryland for about the same as the monthly payments. That is, if I decide to move soon...

I'll be heading to New York either THIS Wednesday or Friday -or- I could wait another year and spend more time with my girlfriend (hopefully soon to be fiancee). We'll see.

I just can't get rid of my car.
