Some of the best modern American cinema Hollywood has to offer. I also caught a midnight screening of Collateral this morning....phucking awesome movie!

Since you seem to enjoy those mindbender flicks, I'd highly recommend these recent flicks:

1. Twelve Monkeys2. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind4. Fight Club5. Mulholland Drive6. Trainspotting7. Adaptation8. Dark City9. The Truman Show10.Donnie Darko

Fear and Loathing is only good when you're wasted and or stoned. I also recommend se7en and American Beauty

Ditto.

I've been watching a ton of foreign flicks the past couple months. Completely been blown away by what I've been missing all this time. Completely blown away by the following movies:

1. Suzhou River2. Blue Kite3. Infernal Affairs4. Love Letter5. What Time is It There? 6. Rules of the Game7. Ju Dou8. Ikiru9. Throne of Blood10.Tokyo Story

The list goes on and on....I could easily come up with well over a hundred recommendations.

You can't even really call it a movie, it's more like a series of hit or miss psychadelic skits.

Though I don't really care much for American Beauty, Se7en is a modern masterpiece- it's pretty much in a league of its own as far as effective editing goes.

Besides So Close and Naked Weapon, I absolutely adore all of your choices. If you like Talk to Her, I think you'll like Pedro Almodovar's other movies- All About Eve and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.

Well....I've got some more reco's:

Chinese: Ashes of Time, Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love, Fallen Angels, Farewell My Concubine, Peking Opera Blues, Bride with White Hair

Taiwanese: Yi-Yi, Rebels of the Neon God, The Hole, Vive L'Amour, Goodbye South Goodbye

Japanese: A Tale of Two Sisters, The Cure, Pulse, Bright Future, Battle Royale, Hana-Bi, Kikujiro, Zatoichi, Fire Festival

Vietnamese: Scent of Green Papaya

French: The Story of Adele H, Manon de Sources, Jean de Florette, Small Change, Murmurs of the Heart, Au Revoir Les Enfants

Ukraine: Lilya-4-Ever

Dammit! Gotta get back to work...but yeah, the list goes on...

So Close and Naked Weapon is just eyecandy. ;) What's better than hot chicks kicking ***? :D

I'll definitely check out the two you've recommended. I've noticed All About Eve at the video store but it seems kinda old isn't it?

This is true. If the objective of the director was to give the viewer a trippy experience that one would get from being on drugs themselves, then he has succeeded, however, it's not something that provokes thought and conversation.

btw - Requiem for a Dream is good. A SS to A SS biatch!

My bad, I meant All About my Mother not All About Eve. But yeah, while you're at it, check out All About Eve as well, it's another personal fave of mine.

It should be watched as a double-bill with Sunset Boulevard. Agghhhh!! I wanna make more recommendations, but alas, I'm off to Toronto. The recommendations will commence when I return.

I liked that one, my wife said the director / main actor is actually a famous comedian in Japan (you'd never know from this movie) and I loved the scene where the Yakuza's roll up to a restaurant in a pimp white Y33.

Other movies that I love are:

24 Hour Party People

Human Traffic

Time Zone

Dogtown and Z boys

Repo Man

King Of New York

Killing Zoe

Less Than Zero

I don't know...I thought it had a pretty coherent narrative and I wasn't wasted or stoned, but maybe I'm just not right. And, unbelievably, Johnny Depp made a pretty convincing Hunter S Thompson. Hehe...the bats. Besides, it's directed by Terry Gilliam and who can't relate to running amok in Vegas?

"Frailty" with Bill Paxton is pretty good.

Ummmm...car movies (or movies with car stuff in 'em). You could rent "Bullitt" and "Le Mans". You can never get enough Steve Mcqueen...the man did almost all his own driving. Even now, he could still out-drive that pen15 from The Fast and the Furious.

So...

"Fear and Loathing...""Frailty""Bullitt""Le Mans"
