I usually find the book better, but it's hard to recreate a book with a movie. Most of that is because I've already got the images in my head, and the director rarely sees things in a similar light. I usually go into those films treating the movie as its own entity. If you compare the storyline to the book, it will almost certainly lose. If you go into it looking to see the directors interpretation of the story, it's a completely different perspective.

If you have not seen it, it is amazing. David Lynch may possibly be my favorite director of twisted/ extremely artsy films that make your brain hurt after watching.
Actually have not seen it, but it is now on my must watch list. I swear, movies get tough now since I try to locate everything in HD. I wish bluray would take off so some of the more obscure movies would make their way to that media...
