OKay i have removed the cam sproket cover and now i made shure that engine was at top dead center and now i need to set up the cam angle sensor to be set near correct to have the engine start. Now where do i line up the marks on crank angle sencor and the sproket. I have no idea of what marks on both the cam and the sensor, or is it the mark on the cover? I know i am TDC and the piston number 1 is at the top. so plz mark my pictures(photoshop) and show me what marks i have to line up on either peices. Also when setting up for intial timing is the piston sapose to be at the top of the cylender or the bottom when set at TDC, since there are 2 TDC one where the piston is at top and when the piston is at bottom, It is a Ca18det HEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP. Welcome to NICO, sivart33. We have a forum dedicated to the CA18DET, so I'm moving your post there. Dee (boost boy) is a freaking god when it comes to the CA, so he and his acolytes will be able to help you.

Just stick it in, it will only go in one way, its not like the ka or sr, you don't have to align anything to install the cas. Look at the little half circle shaped pin inside the gear on the cas and line it up with the one on the cam and stick it in. BTW, you need to put the cover back on before you install the cas, on CA's the engine doesn't have to be at tdc while its being stabbed.

Just as damesta said, you can't install the CAS wrong. The exhaust shaft is keyed so that it will only go in one way. What does happen occasionally is that the key will break off. If that does happen, You're basically SOL. Trial and error or a new cam are the only ways to make it work.
