Hey everyone, please put in your two cents! I want to change up my front grille but I'm not sold on the C-mod grille that alot of folks are getting. I'm considering the moustache overlays that I think are only sold by Bluebatmobile.....please correct me if I'm wrong. So the question is, how easy are the overlays? Anyone have a diiferent grille suggestion other than C-mod?

Well, I have finally come to a decision.....the car is being dropped off tomorrow and I'm having the OEM grille painted, as well as the engine cover. Engine cover will be Azure Blue with Silver 3.5/V6......for the grille, the honeycomb part will be black, and the silver inserts blue.....the burger stays the same.......stay tuned! And thank you boystar for your pics....figured painting the inserts was easier than the overlays!

Honestly, Ive been looking at some overlays as well. Been doing some searching the the best overlays I've found so far has been the ones by E&G. Here's a link at least for the one I've been looking at getting. 2pc grill for top and bottom.

Now, they have a couple more styles if you're not into the full chrome like that. Maybe they'll have something that'll peak your interest.

I have the vinyl mustache overlays from bluebat, and they are a pain in the butt to install; but they transform the entire look of the front end. I've never had a problem with the honeycomb grill, I've always just hated the out of place chrome pieces.

My car is dark slate, and the vinyl he sent matches 99.99999%. The overlays are $15 per set (if i recall correctly) and I bought two sets, and used both of them trying to install. So if you're attempting to do it yourself you might want to pick up several sets just in case. I've had them on the car for over a year now and they still look great and the color still matches perfectly.

If you want any more pictures just let me know and i'll take some for you.

Thanks boystar22, looks good. That's kind of what I'm leaning toward....I'm guessing the install is as hard as the overlays for my tail lights, which wasn't easy, but totally worth it. What was the biggest pain, taking the inserts out or putting the overlay on and then putting the inserts back in?

I just took the moustache off and havent put it back on. No one really notices it. I orginally painted it myself but didnt sand/prep it well, so the paint after a while chipped. I had intentions to sand it down and repaint it the right wa;y but you can really only tell there is something missing from the front if you are right up close to the car.

Getting the pieces on and off the grill isn't hard. Thankfully the vinyl comes larger than you actually need. The hard part was wrapping it over the curves and stretching it so it doesn't wrinkle. You don't have to cut the excess off either, it'll fold over to the back and then be hidden once you put the pieces back on the grill. It's def worth trying on your own, but i'd get more than one set just incase you mess up on the first try, or just incase one of them gets messed up down the road.

I ordered mine from BlueBatmobile. The best way to contact him is through his website. Just google the name and you'll get his photobucket site with his contact info. Just email him with what you want and in what color and he'll send you a paypal invoice.

Is that a blue coupe in the background parked on the street?

Yea our neighbor's friend drives it. I've never talked to him before, or even the neighbors for that matter. They don't seem very friendly so I haven't gone out of my way to say anything.

Ironically I wanted a blue coupe when I bought mine but the dealer just wasn't offering a good enough price on it so I went to the other dealer and bought the exact same car in dark slate for about $3800 less. I couldn't be happier though the dark slate never looks dirty.

OK, my .02, I painted my mustache the same color as the grill(gloss black). Plus if you look closely I painted the side edge blue that fades into the black. I did have Blue Bats overlays but did not like the look with all blue. So I took them off and and sanded the hell out of the mustaches, primed, painted, put 2 coats of clear on them and the picture below is the end result.

Whatever you do I'm sure it will look great, I'm not a fan of the Cmod and I always liked the honeycomb, especially the stretched. Pics when you're done........

Yea they're still holding up just fine. I may not be the best statistical sample since at three years old my car only has 23k miles and stays in the garage almost all of the time though.

Sorry for the late reply, I never got a notification.

It's good quality vinyl, and at the price if it lasts 5-7 years then you'll have gotten your monies worth.

The reason my mileage is so low is because I bought it in July 2008 and got laid off in November 2008 and have been unemployed since. I have no where to go, and no money for gas either. I think in those first six months I put around 17k miles on it and then only 6k more in the last 2.5 years.

I'd get this overlay no doubt if I was planning on keeping my OEM grille installed, but since I'm going to get the CMOD later on the road, I think it'd be somewhat a waste of money (although it's not that expensive to begin with). I'm sure it's a great product just like everything else Bluebat produces though :bigthumb:

Thought I'd update this thread.. I decided to Plastidip my front emblem + mustache pieces, just because I really disliked the chrome. I'll grab some pics tomorrow for sure, it's already dark out. Looks good, though.. and they came off pretty easily.
